The Pathway to Diversity National Art Exhibition officially started yesterday at St. John’s City Hall, bringing together powerful artwork and stories exploring migration, identity, diversity, and belonging.
We were honoured to hear thoughtful opening remarks from Sheilagh O'Leary and Sobia Shaheen Shaikh, and to welcome artists Nasim Makaremi Nia, Carolina Aguirre, and members of the wider arts and community network.
This exhibition is a collaboration between City in Colour Urban Consultancy Cooperative and Expertise Hub Cooperative, with the support of the City of St. John's.

Today, our CEO, Roxana Fazli, participated as a panelist at Econext’s Green Roots Summit.
We often see highly qualified immigrant professionals in Newfoundland and Labrador struggle to find meaningful employment. Today, the room was filled with incredible talent, and inspiring mentors and professionals who are wholeheartedly committed to supporting immigrant professionals in their transition to meaningful employment.
A special shoutout to Econext for this valuable initiative, and thank you to Ogaga Johnson and Timilehin Oguntuyaki for inviting our team to be part of this important conversation.
We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the Green Career Roots and supporting initiatives that create more inclusive pathways into Newfoundland and Labrador’s green economy.

Join us for the “Building Cultural Competence: Understanding, Communicating, and Thriving Across Cultures” session through the Empowerment Bridge Program, facilitated by Sonja Knutson Chair of IENL - Study and Stay NL.
Dr. Sonja Knutson is a long-time practitioner and scholar in the field of international education. She has been an invited guest speaker and instructor in over a dozen countries across five continents, sharing research and insights into the role of international education.
She is Chair of the not-for-profit provincial association, International Education Newfoundland and Labrador (IENL - Study and Stay NL), and an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Education at Memorial University, Newfoundland and Labrador. In 2022, she developed a Graduate Diploma program offered through Memorial’s Faculty of Education on the Internationalization of Higher Education (IHE).
Dr. Knutson recently retired from her administrative role as Senior International Officer at Memorial University in order to devote more time to teaching, research, and service within the IHE field. She is a dedicated advocate for the IHE profession and takes every opportunity to engage with colleagues, from newcomers to veterans in the field.
