Mark Cerisano, Registered Piano Technician (RPT) is now on PEI and accepting appointments.
Mark has been an RPT since 2005. Before that, he played jazz trumpet on Holland America Cruise Lines and Carnival Cruise Lines.
His original career was as a Mechanical Engineer where he worked for Liquid Air Engineering in Montreal and Paris, France. However, the arts called him and he went back to university to receive training in Jazz Performance and received his Diploma in Education from McGill University.
After working professionally on cruise ships where he backed up such famous musicians as Peter Marshal and Shirley Jones, he worked as a high school teacher for eight years.
During that time, Mark joined the Piano Technicians Guild and became a registered piano technician.
As a professional technician, Mark has been instrumental in developing and promoting high level aural piano tuning results. One needs to develop their ear to the highest level using advanced aural piano tuning techniques if one wishes to tune pianos to a high level for concerts, recording studios, professionals, and other people who demand high quality. Computers can help, but they can't produce the best tunings by themselves. That is why Mark uses only aural techniques to tune pianos.
With these skills, Mark has been engaged by the University of Prince Edward Island to tune for their Concert Series performances which bring in many world famous musicians to perform at Steele Hall.
As the foremost expert on advanced aural tuning techniques, Mark has been asked to teach at the world level conference of piano technicians - The Piano Technicians Guild Convention in Denver, Colorado.
He has also published four articles in the Piano Technicians Journal on advanced aural tuning techniques and written four books on the subject.
These articles include:
Tuning Accurate Equal Temperament, June 2015
NSL Tension Analysis for Improved Stability, July 2015
