Always have to start my presentations/teachings with some Banock and strawberry jam 😋 for the Gawendum Gaakina Awaya Reconciliation Training with the Thunder Bay Police - this must be going on 4 years now but it’s always a great time sharing knowledge of the past and our profession

This week started in Sudbury where as an advisor for Waasmoowin Energy Inc. I visited a site along with members of Whitefish River, Sagamok First Nations and Hydro One to inspect a site and discuss recommendations made by Archaeological Services Inc. (ASI). In Ontario Stage 4 recommendations can include either excavation or preservation and protection - each come with major considerations to make and I look forward to offering input into how First Nations can manage their cultural heritage - it’s through collaborative efforts such as this, where all parties are at the table and all voices heard allow for free and informed decisions about management of indigenous cultural heritage.

Archaeology is a seasonal job in Canada - at least in northwestern Ontario it usually is - this year we push the boundaries - doing unprecedented excavations well into November - it’s both a sign of development (growth?) and of climate change - at least the crew is still willing to work! 🙌👏👊👍🤘👌✌️🖖

It was a chilly start to the morning but we made it out and moved some dirt - found some things too - best part of my day was speaking to each crew member and hearing about how this project has changed their life - it’s an honour and privilege to do the work we do and it makes it better knowing we’ve shaped some minds and hearts for the future - winding down for this season up north but the next two will truly be amazing 👊🙌🙌👏🤘

Our new website is live!
The CCRA is excited to announce the official launch of our brand-new website! After months of dedication and teamwork, our site is now live and ready to welcome new members and CRM professionals.

Our online presence has been designed for the Canadian CRM community, and aims to provide accessible information, resources, and updates about the CCRA and our work. We invite you to explore the website at https://www.canadiancrassociation.org/, and share your feedback with us. We also encourage you to share the website with your networks and help us spread the word.
With the introduction of the website, we are launching a membership drive! The CCRA is a national trade organization dedicated to strengthening the CRM industry in Canada. Now is the time to join! Membership is open to CRM professionals and firms who work in Canada, and non-voting membership is available to individuals. By becoming a member, you are joining and supporting a Canadian movement to deliver responsible solutions that balance essential development and heritage preservation. These fires can’t stop us! Thanks to the MNRF and the firefighting crews in the north - they were able to contain Red Lake 062 enough and made it safe so we can return to work! The crew was eager to get back and already found the largest piece of copper to date!!!
