Vancouver’s Council is the first to state that by 2030, they will ensure 40% less embodied emissions from new buildings and construction projects compared to 2018. As the climate crisis heats up and carbon prices continue to rise, attention turns again to hospitals and their central plants which represent one of society’s largest carbon emitters. We are happy to see the Emissions Reduction Plan released by the Canadian Government on March 29th. "The Plan describes the many actions that are already driving significant reductions as well as the new measures that will ensure that we reduce emissions across the entire economy to reach our emissions reduction target of 40 to 45 percent below 2005 levels by 2030 and put us on a path to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050”.

We are delighted to see targets for reduction and look forward to seeing how these are implemented.
