Good sleep isn’t putting your baby down and walking away with the expectation that they will eventually fall asleep. It's about understanding all of your little one's sleep needs and knowing how to navigate these needs & cues on a day to day basis! 💕⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here are 4 common reasons I see parents struggling with teaching their baby independent sleepings skils:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⏰ Schedule & WW are off - An example of this would giving your baby a late bedtime (any time after 8/8:30PM) and having them take 5 naps when thy need 3 or 4 or giving them a 1.5 WW when they need 2. Babies need the right amount of sleep pressure to fall and stay asleep.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌝 Sleep environment - You have heard me time and time again talk about how important it is for your baby to sleep in a DARK evnironment for naps and night time sleep. A little bit of light can cause early morning wakings and short naps. Sound machines are your friend, use them to help block out external noise and keep your baby sleeping well thorugh their naps and night time sleep!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✔️ Consistency - Consistency is so key especially when it comes to teaching babies how to sleep well and independent sleeping skills. Consistency = clarity, inconsistency = confusion.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
😣 Drowsy but awake - Once a baby has hit their 4 month regression, we want to put our babies in their crib awake, not drowsy. Putting a baby down drowsy often leads to more protest. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
