Private Residence: The indoor swimming pool, lushly planted with tropical vegetation, is linked to a large screened in porch by a wall of glass that slides down into the ground.
The interior design is distinguished by a rigorous attention to materiality and craftsmanship. The entry foyer features a cantilevered stair fabricated of bronze, Pommele Anigre wood veneer and glass treads and risers, set against a wall of backlit white onyx.

Private Residence: A brise soleil of horizontal limestone slats filters the view through the glass walls of the indoor pool to the lake beyond.

Private Residence: Situated on a scenic rural site in southern Ontario, this 18,000 square foot home is designed to maximize views of a serene private lake and the wooded surrounding countryside.
The house is a composition of solid and transparent volumes – the interplay of floor to ceiling glazing with exterior walls of Indiana limestone grounded by a rusticated base of local Ontario stone anchoring the house to the sloping terrain. A private office cantilevers out through the exterior wall of the Great Room, framing a spectacular view over the lake.

The Vanishing Craft of (Physical) Model Making:

While 3D rendering dominates, our office still displays the physical models we created before the ease and speed of 3-D technology made them mostly obsolete. Our collection includes everything from rough massing studies to polished client presentation pieces. These models offer a direct, tactile engagement that screen-based design cannot replicate, serving as a vital part of our design heritage, a testament to the tactile, hands-on craft of architectural design.

The Art of the Screen:
Timber screens are a signature of our work—crafted as sculptural interventions that act as a poetic interface between light and space. Externally, they balance privacy with luminosity, filtering sunlight into an ever-changing play of light and shadow by day and a warm glow by night. Internally, vertical slats replace the weight of solid walls, subtly defining boundaries while offering curated glimpses into the spaces beyond.

Back To Work.
With back to work mandates being implemented, we are looking back at some of our premium workplace designs over the past 15 years. The Agnico-Eagle Mines Offices features a screen fabricated of stone cores from the bore holes created during mining investigations; the Hudbay Minerals Offices has solid ingots of raw zinc with the HudBay stamp mounted along the lobby walls; the Harley-Davidson Canada Offices were inspired by the history and colours of the brand; and Aquilon Capital Corporation offices were a response to the client’s request for a design that would impart a sense of understated elegance without ostentation to create an environment that would help attract the best employees.

We incorporate both Indiana Limestone and Algonquin into the facades of many of our residential projects in thoughtful and creative ways - both with 2” thick limestone that is hung off of the structure with a stainless steel clip system, and with 3 ½” thick stone that is laid up in a more traditional fashion. We have also incorporated different sized blocks of Indiana limestone that are staggered in and out. This is a modern interpretation of traditional split faced stone. It provides a more varied surface due to the subtle shadows that the projecting blocks create.

A renovation and addition to an existing house built in 1930, this project presents a model for transforming and modernizing traditional residential architecture on established Toronto streets through a rigorous exploration of unifying elements of new and old through adaptive reuse.

Salvaged brick from demolished portions of the house were reused to add a mudroom and to infill window openings. The memory of these windows is preserved by retaining the original stone sills and arched brick lintels. New and old are knit together: black zinc panels slide over the existing brick box, adorned by Ontario limestone, and cedar siding
