My highest priority as a facilitator is to create safe spaces for honest engagement.

In a recent session, I had the privilege of guiding a room through some complex, strategic conversations. The feedback that followed has stayed with me:

🗣 “I felt safe to speak the truth.”
👥 “This is the highest engagement we’ve ever had with our Board.”
🧭 “We’ve never looked at our business this way before - this is revolutionary.”
💬 “I felt heard.”

These words were wonderful to hear and reinforced what I know to be true: we can’t get unstuck if we’re unwilling to have the hard conversations. And we can’t have those conversations without creating space for honesty out loud.

My role as a facilitator is to bring every voice into the room - not just to be heard, but to shape outcomes.

There are moments where I (like many others) wonder if I’m keeping up with evolving technology and whether AI might eventually make my role obsolete. But I’m reminded that no algorithm can replace what happens when people feel genuinely seen, safe, and invited to contribute.

Creating that kind of space is the work I’m most proud of.

As a follow up to my last post, I wanted to touch on the second part of Mel Robbins’ Let Them theory: Let Me. This involves identifying what we DO have control over and focusing our efforts there (versus on the people and things outside our control).

When displaced from my condo due to repair work last month, this looked like:

💐 Making my home away from home (a hotel room) as beautiful and functional as I could, by bringing in fresh flowers and my external monitor for work

🤗Using the experience as an opportunity to spend more time and with friends I don’t see as much as I’d like, and

☕️Exploring and enjoying my temporary downtown neighbourhood

Putting my energy here (versus overthinking/trying to control what the contractors were up to at my condo) made for a much less stressful and more enjoyable experience. I’m grateful that the book came along when it did, and I was handed this pretty significant opportunity to put the theory into practice.

Who else is reading Let Them? 🙋🏻‍♀️ 📚

I’ve just finished it and found it to be a helpful reframe and reminder. It came in particularly handy last month when I was having repairs completed in my condo due to some water damage.

In the past, my instinct would have been to try and control the process – but this time, thanks to and the perspective provided in this book, I didn’t.

Instead, I decided to trust the people tasked with the job to handle it with professionalism and care. And you know what? They did.

Sure, it was disruptive to be out of my home, but ‘unhooking’ from thinking about all that could go wrong and trying to control variables and decisions that weren’t mine to control saved me so much stress and time.

What did you think of the book? Have you had the chance to put it into practice in your own life yet? If so, please share!

(I’ll follow up with some reflections about the second part of the theory – Let Me – in my next post!)

Celebrating another trip around the sun today 🎂

As I always do around my birthday, I’ve been reflecting on the past year, which has been one of growth and self-discovery for me, in more ways than one.

What stands out most is a newfound ability to tune out the noise and trust my gut. As a result, I’ve noticed myself feeling more adaptable, in terms of knowing when to engage and when to step back. When to try harder, and when to stand down. When to take control, and when to let go.

Because of this, I feel clearer and more confident in my day-to-day decisions and also in my overall direction. Because I am letting my inner wisdom guide me, I know I’m on the right path – and I’m excited about where it is headed. Cheers to that 🥂

Years ago, I was leading a national brand campaign that needed buy-in from multiple provincial organizations (no pressure, right?)

It was one of those projects where you hold all the responsibility - but none of the authority. Which meant I had to lead through influence and reassure the various stakeholders/decision makers that the campaign was a wise investment.

When it came time to share the plan with one of the provincial Boards, a virtual meeting was suggested. But my gut said that I needed to do it in person, as a sign of respect and importance, and also so we could have a dynamic conversation and address concerns in real time.

I explained this to my boss, and thankfully, they agreed. So, I flew in.

The meeting went well, but the real moment came later. At a national meeting, the Chair of that provincial Board said, “Lisa flew in to see us. That told us all we needed to know — she’s treating us like a partner now and we trust that she will throughout the project.”

That stuck with me.

💬 My takeaway? Whenever possible, meet in person. It’s not just about what’s said - it’s about how you show up. And sometimes, that effort is the message.

✨ This is MasterMIND ✨ I’m still buzzing from the energy, insights, and connection that unfolded last week .

As a facilitator and proud member of the MasterMIND Board of Advisors, I had the honour of hosting an experience designed to showcase the power of collective wisdom that happens when brilliant women come together with intention, purpose, and heart.

The day included elements designed to provide a taste of the MasterMIND experience, including breakout sessions - on topics ranging from financial mastery to navigating AI - and inspiring keynotes from , who reminded us to reclaim our stories and rewrite our worth, and , who spoke about the art and impact of meaningful relationship building.

It would never be possible to recreate the full MasterMIND experience in one day, but I think this event came close – and it was so wonderful to be a part of.

On Easter Sunday, I’m reflecting on the happy memories I have of childhood Easters, in particular our egg hunts, which were a highlight.

To ensure I got my fair share, my Mom would hide eggs just for me, easier to find than those hidden for my two older brothers. And I remember them helping me find my eggs so we’d all have a full basket at the end of the hunt.

Another example of a theme I’ve touched on a couple of times this month: everybody wins when we work together 😉

Happy Easter to all those celebrating 🐣

I’m in the final year of my term on the Board of Directors for the Resident Doctors of Canada (RDoC), and last month, I attended its Board Meeting.

I always come away from these meetings feeling energized by this group, whose mission is to advocate as a group to drive systemic change in medical education.

I’m struck by the power of their collective wisdom and commitment to addressing the challenges in Canadian healthcare – like fatigue risk management and family medicine.

is a great example that the collective is more powerful than the sum of its parts – and of what’s possible when we work together.

Someone recently told me that my superpower is creating clarity from chaos—and I loved it because that’s exactly what I aim to do in all aspects of my work.

Whether it’s facilitation, strategy, or navigating competing priorities, I thrive in untangling complexity, making sense of things, and seeing opportunity.

A big part of that is navigating competing opinions and priorities. I’ve learned that misalignment is often a sign of fear – and the key to overcoming it, and reaching a clear and aligned outcome, is to meet it with curiosity 🧐

Have you ever been told you have a superpower? If so, please share! 🦸🏻‍♀️

Being part of a MasterMIND group has been a game-changer for me. It’s more than just a monthly meeting—it’s a personal board of advisors I can turn to when I need guidance, perspective, or support.

As a solo entrepreneur, having access to experienced thought partners who help me navigate tough decisions is invaluable. That’s why I’m so happy to be on the MasterMIND Board of Advisors. It’s my way of giving back and helping others experience the same benefits.

On April 25, we’re bringing this experience to the entire Verity community with a full-day MasterMIND Forum. It’s a chance for members to connect, build skills, gain diverse perspectives, and experience the power of collective wisdom that comes from being part of a MasterMIND. Hope to see my fellow Verity members there!

I’ve been doing a lot of facilitating lately, which has me reflecting on just how impactful it can be.

When you’re deep in a challenge, it’s almost impossible to see the bigger picture. That’s where an external facilitator comes in—not to take over, but to offer perspective, identify opportunities, and create a safe space for debate.

The best conversations happen when people feel heard, understood, and challenged in the right way – and good facilitation can achieve exactly that.

If your organization needs (or is considering) a facilitator to create clarity and gain alignment - while allowing you as the leader to fully participate in strategic conversations – I am available to chat anytime!

You may have heard the phrase “know your audience” in a marketing or public speaking context. But I have come to learn that it is just as critical when it comes to leadership.

In many ways, leadership is a lot like marketing — it involves aligning people around a vision, persuading stakeholders, and driving action. But persuasion is difficult if you don’t understand who you’re trying to convince.

I learned this firsthand while leading a brand campaign launch for a nonprofit. It was innovative, insight-driven, and had the potential to make a real impact. But a new board member—an experienced marketer—wasn’t convinced. Instead of pushing harder, I paused to understand his concerns.

We took a step back, involved him in shaping research, and let him see firsthand how potential donors reacted. Though unconventional, this approach leveraged his expertise and ultimately strengthened our work. The result? His full support—and he became one of our biggest advocates.

Lesson learned: When you truly know your audience, you can engage them in ways that resonate, harness their expertise, and create even better outcomes—together.
