Tech Jonny from the Hammertown SWAT Division was called to a residence in Hamilton for a yellow jacket wasp nest burrowed underneath a plant in a deep hole.

The nest was mostly hidden, but the entry point was visible enough for Jonny to identify where the activity was coming from. Since it was located right beside a sidewalk, it had become a safety concern for anyone walking by.

After a careful inspection, Jonny determined the best approach was to vacuum the majority of the wasps and nest activity first, then treat the area to help remove the remaining population.
Hidden ground nests can be dangerous, especially when they are close to walkways, doors, driveways, or high-traffic areas.

Follow-up with Tech Jimmy 🦝

After finding a gap under the roofline and fascia that allowed raccoons to slip into this homeowner’s attic, Jimmy determined the best solution was to clad and flash the full perimeter of the home.

Every piece was hand-measured, hand-formed, hand-cut, and installed with care.

This helps keep wildlife out, protects the roofline, and helps keep the elements from getting in.

Late-season squirrel call in Scarborough 🐿️

Rand-man was called to a home where the homeowners could hear activity in the roof, but they were not sure what animal was inside.

After a proper inspection, Randy confirmed it was a family of squirrels. With the second squirrel baby season still winding down, some late litters can still be active in rooflines and attics.

Once he checked the nest, Rand-man found the babies were old enough to climb in and out on their own. That allowed him to safely remove the nest, set up a one-way door system, and secure the home from future squirrel activity.

Another attic top-up with SWAT 🏠

Fresh gutter guard install with SWAT 🏠

SWAT Wildlife provides gutter guard installation for homeowners looking to protect their eavestroughs and roofline.

In this video, Derick picks up the guards and heads to the job site where Tech Jimmy gets to work installing fresh black gutter guards on the customer’s eavestroughs.

SWAT was called to a home after the homeowners noticed a funky smell coming from the bathroom area.

Derick completed a thorough inspection and followed the scent until it led him to an old radiator that was no longer in use. After moving the radiator to inspect further, he found the source of the smell: a mouse that had become tangled inside and could not get out.

Not every issue is obvious at first, but a proper inspection can make all the difference. Derick found the source, solved the smell, and got the radiator back in place.

Garage attic cleanup in Durham Region 🦝

Tech Brian was called back to a garage attic after a raccoon family had been living inside. Once the raccoons safely exited through a one-way door system, it was time to seal the space and clean up what was left behind.

After a long stay, there was a heavy buildup of f***s, urine, and nesting contamination throughout the attic. Brian suited up, removed the wildlife waste, cleaned the area, and disinfected the space properly.

Not always glamorous, but absolutely necessary.

Northern Etobicoke roof damage 🦝

Derick and Tech Jammin Jimmy James were called to a home dealing with serious raccoon activity and damage along the roofline.

Jimmy walks through exactly what happened. Metal cladding had been installed, but it did not go high enough along the drip edge. That left enough room for raccoons to lift the roofline and slip right into the attic.

Multiple entry points, ripped shingles, damaged flashing, and one clear lesson: wildlife proofing has to be installed properly.

Hidden wasp nest in Hamilton 🐝

Tech Jonny from the Hamilton Division was called to a home with wasp activity, but after inspection, it was clear the nest was not easily accessible.

Given the location, Jonny chose the best approach for the situation: dusting, spraying, and treating the area thoroughly before removing what he could from the exterior.

Sometimes the nest is visible. Sometimes the access is the real challenge.
