A lot of people have never worked with a professional organizer, so they aren't sure what to expect. Here are a few things my clients often don't know until we get started 🏡
Which one surprised you most? Part 2 is coming in a couple of weeks.

Before the patio furniture and garden tools get put away for the season, take one pass through what you have. Donate tools you never reached for this summer, toss anything rusted or broken beyond use, and only store what you'll actually pull out again next spring.

You don't need to store every trowel and cracked planter until next May. Less clutter in the shed means an easier start to next season.

Know someone getting into gardening, or a neighbour who could use an extra patio chair? Pass it along before it goes into storage for good.

Before the backyard toys get packed away for fall, take one pass through the bin. Donate what your kids have outgrown, toss what's cracked, faded, or missing half its parts, and keep only what still gets played with.

You don't need to store every sq**rt gun and pool float until next June. Less to dig through in the spring means less to trip over all summer long.

Before you pull out the fall bins, sort through what's left in summer rotation. Set aside what's outgrown, toss what's stained or worn through, and pack away only what still fits and still gets worn.

Kids grow fast, and last summer's favourites rarely fit this fall. A quick sort now means less digging through sizes that don't fit come next June.

Know a family who could use gently used kids' clothes? Someone else's kid would love a second summer in them.

Before the school year backpack chaos begins, take one pass through last year's paperwork. Recycle what's outdated, file what you'll actually need again, and set up one spot for permission slips, forms, and schedules before they start piling up on the counter.

You don't need a filing cabinet. You need one landing spot that isn't the kitchen table.

Have a system that's worked for you? Drop it in the comments, other parents would love to steal it.

I handed them every marker, crayon, and pen in the house and said "test them, keep what works." An hour later we had one small bin of markers that actually draw and a garbage bag full of dried up clutter.

This is what organizing really looks like in a house with kids. Not perfect bins, just less stuff taking up space for no reason.

If your art supply drawer looks like this too, you're not alone!

Decluttering doesn't have to be a weekend project with colour-coded bins and a label maker.
It can be one drawer. One shelf. One bag of things that are ready to go.
I've worked with so many people in Toronto who thought they needed to overhaul their whole home before things could feel better. They didn't. We started small, built momentum, and the rest followed naturally.
One step at a time.
If you've been putting it off, this is your sign. Your space can feel calm again, and it doesn't have to be hard.

Let's figure out where to start together.

I know that's not what anyone wants to hear, but hear me out.
When kids have too many options, they actually play less. They get overwhelmed, dump everything out, and move on. The toys you thought they'd love sit ignored at the bottom of the bin.
Fewer things means more focus, more creativity, and a lot less mess for you to manage at 9pm.
This spring, try a toy rotation. Pack half away, leave half out. Swap them every few weeks. It feels like new toys every time, without spending a dollar.
Your future self will thank you.

Hi, I'm AnnMarie, and I've been thinking about home organization my whole career.
For over 10 years, I was a buyer in corporate retail, sourcing and selecting home organization products for a living. I knew what worked, what looked good on a shelf, and what Canadians actually needed. I just didn't know yet that I'd eventually be using all of it in my own home, and yours.
Then life happened. Two kids, aging parents, the beautiful chaos of a real household. My professional world and my personal world collided, and it was the best thing that could have happened.
That's when Organized A to Z was born. Not from a perfectly curated home, but from real life. I get the overwhelm because I've felt it. I know the systems that stick because I've tested them.

If you're a busy family or navigating a big life transition, you're in the right place. I'm so glad you're here.

I say this with love because I've been there too.
When we're not sure about something, we put it in a maybe pile and call it progress. But six months later? That pile is still sitting in the corner, untouched.
Here's my rule: if you need to talk yourself into keeping it, that's your answer.
"Maybe" usually means no. And that's okay.
Spring is a great time to clear out the in-betweens and make room for the things you actually love and use.
