You're not always gonna have a perfect project.
You're not always gonna have a perfect scope.
You're not always gonna have a perfect results.

But in the end, its how problems are communicated. Issues are resolved and how seamless your call to action is. That's what matters.

Issues are always going to show up in projects. But its how you handle those that's important. Instead of saying "this costs more", explain the problem, why it got revealed, why it may have been originally missed, and Why there may be a cost associated to it.

clarity always goes a long way.

So here’s something that genuinely bothers me.

I just saw another report about contractors taking advantage of elderly homeowners. Stories like this really frustrate me. I’ve always believed karma has a way of catching up to people who knowingly do wrong, but I still can’t understand the mindset behind it.

Some people see seniors who may not know the right questions to ask, who may not fully understand the technical side of the work being explained to them, and instead of helping guide them honestly, they see an opportunity to make easy money.

That’s not right.

If you’re a senior and you’re planning work on your home, please make sure you have the right people around you. Ask questions. Get second opinions. Don’t feel pressured into making fast decisions.

Honestly, this is one of the reasons I’m passionate about project management and consulting. I want to be the type of representative people can trust so they don’t get taken advantage of during projects they may not fully understand.

So, if you need help. Reach out to me. Let me be your support.

Choosing the lowest estimate can feel like the responsible move. But in capital projects, the cheapest number on paper can quickly become the most expensive decision you make.

Vague scopes, missing preparation details, and unclear assumptions often lead to change orders, delays, and unexpected costs once work begins. A detailed estimate, even if it comes in higher, can protect your budget, reduce risk, and prevent disputes down the line.

I’ve put together a blog post breaking down why clarity in estimates is one of the most important cost control tools you have when managing capital projects.

If you sit on a condo board, manage properties, or oversee major renovations, this is worth the read.

Let me know your thoughts or share your experience with comparing estimates.

When you sit on a condo board or manage a capital project, it is tempting to compare estimates the way most people compare groceries. Line up the totals, circle the lowest number, and move forward. On paper, that seems responsible. In practice, that decision can cost you more than any premium estima...

I understand that usually someone can stir the pot when changing things. But to suggest I'll make enemies cause I want to help people. Is a little ridiculous

A straightforward project, isn't impossible.

Its simply adaptive.

You will have issues pop up.
You will have deficiencies happen.
You will see potential schedule shifts.

In the end, it's how you adapt and adjust how the project is handled is whats most important.

Let’s make this simple: Accountability Without Micromanaging.

Most people do not shut down because of responsibility. They shut down because they feel watched. When leaders hover over every decision, even the best team members start second guessing themselves.

Accountability works when expectations are clear.
Micromanaging happens when they are not.

If you want stronger ownership in your team, try this approach:
• Set clear goals
• Explain the outcome you are looking for
• Give people the room to execute
• Stay available, not over top of them

When people understand what success looks like, they rise to the responsibility naturally. That is real accountability.

Strong leadership is not about control. It is about creating the confidence for others to lead with you.
