Thrilled to represent Obesity Matters in the preparatory discussions for World Obesity Day on March 4th. This year’s theme, « Let’s Talk About Obesity and_____ » is incredibly relevant. Considering the myriad ways obesity is connected to mental health, diabetes, CVD, sleep disorders, nutrition, physical activity, policy, and especially its impact on youth, it’s crucial we initiate and broaden this important dialogue.

It was inspiring to witness global representation, with participants driven by a mission to shift the narrative and make a tangible difference in the lives of those living with this chronic condition.

As World Obesity Day approaches, let’s unite in our efforts to understand, empathize, and support those impacted by obesity. Together, we can break down barriers and bring about positive change.

Today held its first advisory board meeting of 2024. The discussions were vibrant and insightful, especially on the topic of access to treatment. Having advocates with lived experiences at the table brought unique and valuable perspectives, differentiating from traditional views.

This is what ignites our passion at OM - bringing patient voices to the forefront and challenging conventional norms. Their contributions are essential in shaping our direction and future projects. Stay tuned for exciting initiatives and events on the horizon! 🚀

I’m immensely grateful for our incredible team of advisors and directors, whose strategic guidance is invaluable. 💪

🌟 What an enlightening day it's been! Attended the conference focused on advancing clinical trials - from strategy acceleration across Canada to groundbreaking work in rare diseases and designing inclusive studies for vulnerable groups. Proud to represent ObesityMatters, showcasing the critical role of advocates in research design and participant recruitment.

But the highlight? The inspiring keynote by Chika Stacy Oriuwa on 'The Path to Improved Diversity in Canadian Clinical Trials.' Her personal journey of discrimination to becoming a was nothing short of empowering. 👏

And since we both share the deepest respect for , we just had to strike a Sean-like pose!

🌟 Today, we proudly represented Obesity Matters at "The Next Era of Healthcare in Canada: Cross-Sector Collaboration and the Power of Partnership" event hosted by Lilly Canada & The Economic Club of Canada marking the dual milestones of Lilly Canada's 85th anniversary and the 100th year since Lilly's collaboration with the University of Toronto, a partnership that was instrumental in bringing insulin to the global stage.

The panel was a powerhouse of insights with Andre Picard, Jane Barratt, Dr. Mark Lachman, Dave Ricks, and the inspiring Hon. Lisa Raitt, whose heartfelt journey as a caregiver for her husband with early-stage Alzheimer's showed the raw side of health struggles that resonated deeply with us. The discussion highlighted the critical role of long-term care, advocacy activation, and strong partnerships in healthcare. 💚
