Operating a motor vehicle? Make safe choices and respect the rules of the road

A.J. Towing on scene for a 'vehicle' impound due to driver impairment. Thank you to the Upper Fraser Valley RCMP and to the person(s) reporting for helping to keep our roads safe!

Did you know?

Planes, trains, and automobiles aren't the only vehicles bound by impaired driving laws, so are excavators! And it's not often an excavator ends up on our impaired driving list, but on July 30th, that's exactly what happened.

Chilliwack RCMP received a report of a possible impaired driver operating an excavator on Farmers Way. Officers attended and located the driver who was displaying signs of impairment. An investigation resulted in the driver being issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition, and the excavator was impounded for 30 days.

While excavators are designed for digging holes, impaired driving can quickly dig you into one of your own. No matter what you drive, make the safe choice and never drive impaired.

What can I do to help?

Here's a great way to help the pets of evacuees receive all the love and care while their owners stay focused on keeping their families safe and preparing for next steps.

We are still accepting donations for , and will also accept donations for Zoey's Pawsome Pets Society.

Chilliwack is full of the 'helpers' and grass-root organizations that make sure people and their beloved pets are supported when they need it most. Thank you to everyone who can and has contributed their time or donations! This is what makes a community feel like community :)

Have you been looking for a way to support wildfire evacuees?

In a partnership between Zoey's Pawsome Pets Society The Chilliwack Pet Food Bank and CDART (Canadian Disaster Animal Response Team) we are helping get volunteers to help at the Seabird Island Shelter. Please don't spam CDARTs inbox as Zoey's is arranging the volunteers for them.

Shifts inculde
9 am to 10 am to clean cat cages - Cat experience preferred

1 pm to 2 pm to walk dogs

7 pm to 8 pm to walk dogs

Please be aware that the dogs can or do pull so you must be comfortable walking a large breed dog who pulls.

We are seeking volunteers between August 13th and August 25th with the possibility of these dates extending. If you are interested in volunteering please message Jackie Smith or email her at [email protected]

As part of our partnership with CDART we are also supplying pet food and supplies to the Seabird Shelter.

They are in need of Wet dog food, any brand or flavor would be a massive help! The Zoey's team will arrange pick up or drop off at our location in Chilliwack.

"Chilliwack for Cariboo" (Facebook group) is collecting items to send to the evacuees (new items only, not used), you may drop off any items at our office (located at #101 - 45635 McIntosh Dr) by Friday at 5pm. (Pic of items needed posted in the comments.)
