Here’s exactly what I do to help my baby sleep independently and through the night…
A few notes:
She’s 14 months old
She only breastfeeds during the day
She sleeps from 7:30pm-7:00am
No night feeds, rare night wakings
This is her second round of being sleep trained! Around 1 year old we travelled and dealt with a month of being sick so breastfeeding and rocking to sleep became a thing!
It took her 2 nights of sleep training to get the hang of this!
Here’s our routine!
A predictable and relaxing bedtime routine is key:
Step 1. Bath
Step 2. Gentle massage, diaper, pjs, sleep sack
Step 3. Say goodnight to daddy & brother, read 2 books
Step 4. Sound machine on, lights off, cuddle/rock with 1 song
Step 5. Place in crib awake - night night!
She usually takes 5 minutes to fall asleep without crying and without mommy or daddy.
How we got here…
1. I wake her up at the same time every day
2. Nap mirrors our bedtime routine (12:30-2:30)
3. Bedtime is almost always 7:30
4. Completely removed all feeding to sleeping (feed 30 mins before nap and at least 10 minutes after wake up from morning and nap)
5. Removed sleep props and supported her while developing her independent sleep skills. Trust the process
