That’s a wrap on Day 1 of VMRO!

Nearly 700 people through the doors and an incredible programme tackling real challenges across aviation maintenance.

Beth had a big day, joining the conversation around the future of the AME workforce, recruitment, retention and developing the next generation, before taking the stage to talk practical troubleshooting.

Her message was simple: when tunnel vision sets in, flip the funnel. Zoom back out, challenge your assumptions, eliminate what you know isn’t causing the problem and bring in another brain when you need it. You don’t need to know everything, you need the right mindset and process to find the answer.

So many great conversations, connections and lessons shared.

Huge congratulations to Mike Reyno, Linda Reyno and the whole team behind it. What a first day.

How do you measure the maintenance problem that never happened?

That was the question our founder and Director of Maintenance, Beth Christianos, put to the industry when she spoke at the Vertical MRO Conference.

A bearing replaced early, wear caught during an inspection, or a few hours spent protecting a rotor blade can prevent a far bigger repair. It also helps keep an aircraft available for the work it was bought to do.

Beth spoke with Vertical about why maintenance belongs in the investment conversation, and why the people making these calls need to understand the value behind the work.

This week, three of our engineers, Joe, Jeff and Hayden, headed to Dubai to prepare, disassemble and pack an AS350 B3 for one of our clients.

The aircraft is being carefully prepared for the long sea journey, including preservation and protection against moisture and corrosion while in transit.

From Dubai, it will travel by sea freight to Rotterdam before continuing to its final destination in Faro, Portugal.

Another international HeliPackers job, making sure the aircraft is properly protected, packed and ready to travel safely from one side of the world to the other.

Welcoming our newest AME Apprentice to the team, D’Arcy Dickinson šŸ”§šŸš

Earlier this year, we welcomed D’Arcy to the team as she began the next stage of her career in aviation. She recently completed her Aircraft Maintenance Technology training at Northern Lights College, gaining hands-on experience across aircraft structures, systems, and powerplants. Before that, she completed a Mechanical Engineering Technology diploma at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, building a strong foundation in design, materials, and mechanical systems.

Outside of aviation, D’Arcy brings the mindset of a high-level athlete. She played rugby for the University of Calgary and represented Alberta and Canada U20, alongside competing in Olympic weightlifting. These days, she keeps that same energy going through rock climbing, mountain biking, hiking, and yoga.

Driven, hands-on, and already making her mark, D’Arcy is building toward a future in the industry.

We recently had the pleasure of hosting Bryce from at the Leading Edge Aerospace hangar for a demonstration of his laser paint removal system.

While this technology is not currently approved for aviation use, it was great to see it in action and learn more about its potential across industries.

is a newly launched local business offering mobile laser cleaning for paint and rust removal, industrial equipment, automotive restoration, wood, concrete, graffiti and more.

Thanks to Bryce for stopping by. We’re always happy to support new local businesses and technology here in the Okanagan.

Introducing Hayden McLean, a key part of our team since Feb 2025.

Licensed in 2021, Hayden brings solid experience across Bell 212s, Jet Rangers, Long Rangers and AStars. He started out with Sequoia Helicopters, spending a lot of time supporting aerial firefighting operations in tough, remote environments.

Since joining Leading Edge, he’s become a reliable, hands-on part of the crew.

Outside of work, Hayden keeps busy with mountain biking, fly fishing, and life on a five-acre block with his wife, four horses, a growing flock of ducks and a dog.
