This clip was taken from a recent installation in Poulsbo, WA, where the Emergency Vehicle Preemption System is paired with Opticom-equipped warning signs. As the fire truck approaches, the signs activate in real time, giving drivers an early, highly visible alert before the vehicle even comes into view. 🚒 🚙

Depending on the application, these systems can be configured in a few different ways. Some setups are triggered directly by approaching emergency vehicles, like what you see here, while others can be activated from the station using a push button or key fob to light up warning signs throughout the area.

Different locations call for different approaches, but the goal is always the same: giving drivers more time to react and helping emergency responders move through safely.

Our RRFB Crosswalk System is this month’s featured product because it delivers high-visibility alerts that drivers notice and respond to, helping pedestrians cross safely while supporting municipalities in meeting safety standards and reducing risk at critical crossings. 👀
