JUNE
IS PTSD BRAIN INJURY AWARENESSMONTH…
HOWEVER; in reality,
it’s every day,
it’s every week,
it’s every month
and every year

If you know someone who is suffering in silence,
Reach out to them,
You are not alone
You must reach out for help,
Let others help you,
You matter,
And absolutely everything you do in your life matters.

*This, Veteran in desperation, reached out for help..
The conversation between this Veteran and 911,
May be hard to listen to..
However, it is the reality
Of those that carry the unseen
combat injury known as PTSD.

Flashbacks, nightmares, night terrors,
Personality disorders, fear, hyper alertness,
Anxiety, panic attacks, The list is huge
For PTSD brain injury.

This is a brain injury.

Please reach out for help,
Have your battle buddy on speed dial…

It is OK to not be OK.

LIFE AFTER THE MILITARY

TODAYS BATTLE BUDDY SPOT LIGHT
————————————————————-
For some this can be a huge challenge,
Some can adapt easier then others,

Some can find new careers, some
Create small business,
Some find hobbies like
Mountain climbing, fishing, hiking
Or…..

Racing cars.

Like this Retired warrior has done.

⭐️TODAYS BB SPOT LIGHT GOES TO:

🌺Ret’d WO. RICHARD AH ATKINSON CD2.

Richard served in the Canadian Military
Retired in 2018
After having served 37 yrs
Richard served with
*8ch Reserves, then crossed over and
Joined the
Regular forces with the
*Royal Canadian Dragoons (RCD)
Also received the (Queen Elizabeth ll Golden Jubilee).

Richard 2nd chapter in his life after the military is spending his time flying around the race track
At Speedway 660 New Brunswick, where he has a huge fan following.

Here is a little Q & A I had with Richard.

Q: Why did you start racing?
A: My dad..he raced and is the main reason I got into
Racing, his love for the track rubbed off onto me.

Q: What drives you to race more than the love of the speed?
A: My dad, it is a way for me to keep my dad close and his memory alive, since he passed away.

Q: Do you think racing has a way to fill a void since you
Retired from the military?
A: In a way, there is a huge strong family & social atmosphere within the racing community…a
Camaraderie both on and off the track, we all have a way of watching each others 6 if I may use that term, even though we may battle it out on the track, at same time, we dont want anyone getting hurt. I feel parts of my Military Training comes into play on the track, my
Focus is always locked on, I am hyper alert on the track.

Q: would the quote (“ I feel the need for speed”) be fitting to your love of racing?
A: LOL sure, after all, I am a bit of an adrenaline ju**ie.

Q: Would you say there is life after the military?
A: Yes! For sure there is, that being said, there are
Aspects of the military I do miss everyday. That is to be expected after serving for 37 yrs.

Q: what advice or rather what would you say to someone
Who is retiring frm the military and may not have a plan B?
A: I would say, there is more to you then the military side of you, find your nitch, your interest, what things were you interested in before the military, what is something
That caught your attention and you thought
(“ I want to do that when I leave the military!”) and go do it. There is a second chapter to your life after the military.

🌺Q: If folks wanted to say, gift you or donate
To help you cover racing cost of the race car fuel,
Is there somewhere to send it.
A: sure, that would help tremendously and sure would be
Appreciated …
they can send here
❤️(( [email protected] ))

Today I had the honour of meeting
RobCosman.com
As he was presented his Battle Buddy
Coin package by one of the Veterans who had
Taken Robs wood working course called
The Purple Heart Project.

This is an amazing program, that helps Veterans
Learn the basics of wood working, with other comrades,
From all over the world. A fully nonprofit program.

Rob is truly the best of the best with a huge heart,
This program is not just about learning wood working, it goes deeper then that, as it is also about healing and bringing other Veterans from around the globe together
Through this project.

You can view Robs recent purple heart class on his (you tube)
