**โ€œDonโ€™t wait for life to teach you the value of protection.
Prepare while things are still okay.โ€**

โ€” September reminder

When life is going well, itโ€™s easy to believe it will stay that way.

Youโ€™re healthy. Youโ€™re working. Your family is doing well. Bills are being paid, plans are being made, and the future feels predictable.

So protection often becomes something we say weโ€™ll look at **later.**

But preparation is most valuable **before** you need it.

Not after an illness.
Not after an accident.
Not when your income has already been affected.
Not when your family is suddenly forced to make financial decisions under pressure.

**While things are still okay.**

Financial protection isnโ€™t about expecting something bad to happen. Itโ€™s about making sure one unexpected event doesnโ€™t erase years of hard work.

Ask yourself:

โ€ข If I couldnโ€™t work for an extended period, what would happen to my income?
โ€ข Would my current benefits be enough for my family?
โ€ข Have my responsibilities changed since I first got covered?
โ€ข If something happened to me, would the people who depend on me be financially protected?

Your life changes over timeand your protection should be reviewed as it does.

Maybe you have a new family, a mortgage, a higher income, new financial goals, or responsibilities you didnโ€™t have a few years ago.

**You donโ€™t need to live in fear of tomorrow. You simply need to be intentional about preparing for it.**

This September, take a moment to review what you have, understand what it actually covers, and identify the gaps you may not have considered.

Because the goal isnโ€™t to prepare for the worst.

**Itโ€™s to protect the life youโ€™ve worked so hard to build.**

โค๏ธ If youโ€™re unsure whether your current coverage still fits your life, **send me a message. Letโ€™s have a conversation and get clear on where you stand.**

Welcome back.

September feels like a fresh start and in many ways, it is.
New school year. New fiscal quarter. Cooler mornings.
New energy to actually deal with the things we kept deferring.

This month, I want to go deeper than August.

We talked about employer benefits gaps.
We talked about disability insurance and critical illness.
We talked about life insurance and the DIME formula.

September is where we get specific.

This month's focus:
โ—† Self-employed and incorporated healthcare professionals
โ—† Healthcare workers going through career transitions
โ—† The real cost of delaying CI coverage in actual dollars
โ—† Maternity and parental leave coverage gaps
โ—† And as always faith, legacy, and the deeper reason behind the plan

If you're new here: I'm Amelia Dela Fuente.
Licensed insurance advisor in BC, serving Canadian healthcare professionals
and breadwinner women who want protection that actually fits their life.

If you've been here since August welcome back.
September is our harvest season. Let's make it count. ๐Ÿ

Comment 'SEPTEMBER' below and I'll send you
what I'm covering this month and which post is most relevant to you.

**Do you actually know if your insurance coverage is enough? ๐Ÿ‘€**

Most people donโ€™t.

You may have life insurance through work.
You may have a personal policy.
You may even have multiple policiesโ€ฆ

But do you know what they actually cover and where the gaps are?

Thatโ€™s why I created the **Insurance Clarity Test.** ๐Ÿ”Ž

Itโ€™s a simple way to help you understand:

โœ”๏ธ What coverage you already have
โœ”๏ธ What you may be missing
โœ”๏ธ Whether your current protection still fits your familyโ€™s needs
โœ”๏ธ What areas you may want to review

No pressure. No complicated insurance terms.

Just **clarity** so you can make better decisions for yourself and the people you love. โค๏ธ

To everyone who has followed along this month:

The ones who downloaded the checklist.
The ones who DM'd me their DIME calculation at 11pm.
The ones who shared a post with a colleague who needed it.
And the ones who have just been reading not quite ready, but not gone either.

Thank you.

You are the reason I do this work.

I pray that September brings you clarity where there was confusion,
momentum where there was hesitation,
and peace where there was quiet fear.

And I pray that the families represented in this community
are covered, protected, and secure.

That is the heart of this account.
Protecting Families. Creating Legacy.

Follow for September the content continues.

I know some of you have been here a while.

You've read the posts. Saved the checklist. Shared the verse.
You've thought 'I need to do this' more than once.

And then life happened.
A shift. A kid. An unexpected expense. A Tuesday that turned into Thursday.

I'm not here to pressure you.
I am here to say: August ends in three days.
September will come with its own reasons to wait.

If not now genuinely when?

The review is free.
The conversation is low-pressure.
The outcome is clarity whether you end up working with me or not.

Three days. One DM. That's all it takes to start.

'AUGUST' in my DMs and I'll personally make sure we connect before the month ends. ๐Ÿ

I paused before I answered.

Because 'just insurance' doesn't account for the mother I spoke with
who didn't know how she was going to pay her mortgage
after her husband died suddenly at 48 with no life insurance.

It doesn't account for the nurse who went on medical leave at 41
and discovered her group benefits covered a fraction of what she needed.

It doesn't account for the families I've seen have to make impossible choices
financial choices at the worst moments of their lives.

So here's what I told them:

Every woman who pours herself out for others deserves a plan that pours back.
And I believe God placed me here with these skills, this knowledge, this community
to be a bridge between the crisis and the prevention of it.'

That's why I do this.
Not just insurance.
Legacy. Protection. Faith in action.

This one isn't about insurance.
Well it is. But it starts somewhere else.

It starts with the reality that the people who take care of everyone
are often the last ones to take care of themselves.

The last ones to eat during a shift.
The last ones to take sick days.
The last ones to stop and ask: is anyone protecting ME?

This is not martyrdom. This is not noble.
It is a pattern. And it has a financial cost.

The most important financial move you can make is recognizing your own value.
Recognizing that your income is the pillar.
That your health is not guaranteed.
That you are worth protecting.

Not because you're afraid of what might happen.
Because you know what you're worth and you act accordingly.

Rest tonight. And tomorrow let's talk. ๐Ÿ

The DIME method. Let's walk through it.

D โ€” DEBT
Add up everything you owe: mortgage, student loans, car, credit cards.
This is the floor your insurance needs to cover.

I โ€” INCOME
Multiply your annual income by 10.
This replaces roughly a decade of your earnings for your family.

M โ€” MORTGAGE
If not already in D โ€” add the remaining mortgage balance.
Your family should be able to stay in their home.

E โ€” EDUCATION
Estimate post-secondary costs for each child.
University in Canada: projected $30,000โ€“$45,000 per year per child.

Add D + I + M + E.
Then subtract your current life insurance and savings.
The result is your gap.

Run your own numbers in the comments if you want
I'll respond with what it means and whether it concerns me. ๐Ÿ

๐Ÿ“Œ DIME is an educational estimation framework. I created Insurance calculator Gap. see comment section.

Actual insurance needs depend on many individual factors.
