Getting "attacked" by a Gregory Thomas dog is not a bad way to spend a Friday morning.

Besides, Rafferty is a very good boy!

An absolutely huge thank you to the team at Elements Casino for their generous $ 1,000 donation to the Juan De Fuca Performing Arts Center Society.

This money will be used to continue our efforts and advocacy to FINALLY get its very own arts and culture center in the West Shore.

Every founder and executive I work with eventually asks the same quiet question. Why isn't anyone paying
attention to what we're doing?

Nine times out of ten, the work is strong, and the story is silent.

I've watched it in room after room: an incredible organization sitting on a story trapped in a report nobody
reads. Move that story to the front, and the world starts to notice.

You don't have a visibility problem. You have a readiness problem, and that's fixable.

Comment CHECKLIST and find out in five minutes if your story is ready.

Your rec centre isn't falling apart because someone's lazy. It's falling apart because of math.

Most community facilities were built decades ago with senior government money. The replacement bill lands
on today's municipal budget: reserves, debt, or a tax increase. There is no fourth option.

Every council in the country is quietly having this exact fight.

Notice what just happened. I made a complicated thing simple. That's the whole job, and it's the thing that
builds trust.

I spent 25 years making everyone else look good. Now I help founders and executives do the same.

Campaign strategist. Crisis communicator. Media trainer. Elected school trustee and board chair. Now I do one thing: I help leaders tell stories that make their organizations impossible to ignore.

PR strategy. Crisis communications. Media training. No jargon. No spin. Just communication that works.

If we haven't met, welcome! I'm so glad to meet you.

Follow along. And if you lead an organization, comment CHECKLIST for my free Communications Readiness
Checklist.

Your grant didn't get rejected because your mission wasn't good enough. It got rejected because it read as
risky.

Financials that don't match the ask. Missing board approval. A budget that doesn't add up.

Funders don't reject causes. They reject risk. And to a funder, clarity is credibility.

Quick test: could a stranger read your budget and know where every dollar goes? If not, you handed them a
reason to say no.

Comment CHECKLIST. The first section fixes exactly this.

Your press release is going straight in the trash. And it is not because it is badly written.
I have worked with journalists for over 20 years, so here is the hard part. Reporters get hundreds of these a day. Yours gets ignored because it looks like every other one in the pile.
Two mistakes do the damage.
First, it is all about you. It opens with "we are so excited to announce." A journalist is not your megaphone. Their job is to find stories their audience actually cares about. Make it about their readers, not your announcement.
Second, there is no real news in it. A website update is not a story. A small change is not a story. You need an actual angle. Conflict, a human at the centre, a surprising number, or a link to something people are already talking about. No story means no story.
Here is what to do instead. Skip the formal release. Send a short, personal email. Write a subject line that sounds like a human wrote it. Pitch your story in one paragraph and answer one question. Why should a stranger care?
Do that, and you stop getting ignored.
Save this for the next time your group has something to share. Follow for more.
