In Ayurveda, ghee is considered one of the most nourishing and healing substances, and during the postpartum period, it becomes pure gold.

Why I love it for new mothers:

Deep nourishment: Ghee rebuilds strength from the inside out. It replenishes ojas, your vital life essence, helping you feel grounded, stable, and radiant again after birth.

Kindles digestion: After birth, digestion is often weak or sensitive. Ghee gently rekindles your digestive fire, helping your body absorb nutrients and heal efficiently.

Lubricates and soothes: Internally and externally, ghee supports moisture and lubrication, easing dryness, tension, and stiffness. 

Nourishes the nervous system: Warm ghee calms vata dosha, the energy of movement and change that’s heightened after birth. It supports better sleep, emotional balance, and a sense of safety in your body.

Postpartum is a time to return to softness — and ghee is a perfect ally for that journey. 

How to use it:

Use 2 to 3 tablespoons of organic, grass-fed ghee daily in meals and in tea the first 4 to 6 weeks after birth. 

Drizzle it over warm rice, stir into herbal milk, or use in postpartum recipes.

Grandmother love❤️. There's nothing like it.

I love that I get to witness these sweet moments in life over and over again. The moments that make all the outside noise stop, the troubles fade away and all that's left is pure love and the presence of two souls in deep connection.

There's nothing like intense rage, that prickly tension running through your veins that you just can't ignore, or menstrual cramps that bring you to your knees to snap you out of the unrealistic expectations of being in constant DOING mode.

Being elbow deep in the running on empty culture and being carried away by an external pace that demands action, while ignoring your own needs.

Enter our inner autumn- the premenstrual phase and our inner winter- menstruation.

Our natural reset button. 

Our holy interruptor. 

Our great recalibrator.

Our natural out breath.

Stepping outside of that pace and to find space to BE often becomes the real challenge.

Luckily, we get monthly training.

A gentle or at times harsh reminder that all truly sustainable cycles having a slowing down phase, a withdrawing phase, a restful phase before any new life can occur.

If you experience this, I encourage you to lean into the tension, the pain, the rage...don't run from it. Within the exhale of our bodies there is a deeper wisdom coming to the forefront during these phases. What is surfacing is meaningful. As uncomfortable and difficult that may be to face.

Instead, ask your body what it is revealing to you. What needs to be tended to inside of you?

A deep bow to this beautiful part of our bodies that calls us back home to ourselves.

Receiving these pillars of support after birth allows for deep rejuvenation.

Postpartum recovery does not have to be elaborate, in fact, simple is best.

Do what you can, some of these rituals are better than none and allow others to help where they can.

You deserve a slow, intentional, and sacred postpartum.🩷
