coming back. I didn't even realize how tired I was until I started
building something different. Sometimes you don't know how
heavy it is until you start putting it down.

Can I say something that might land for some of you?
You can love what you do AND still want something more.

Both things can be true at the same time. I genuinely cared about the
people I served. And I was still running on empty. Still craving something
that was mine. Something that didn't stop growing the second I stopped
working. That feeling is not ungrateful. It's just honest. And it's worth listening to.

Reality check:
working harder does not always mean getting further ahead.

That was the thing that frustrated me most. I was giving everything
showing up, putting in the hours, doing all the right things. And I
kept hitting the same ceiling. In the service industry, your income is
tied to your time. And your time is tied to your body.
At some point you have to ask is there another way? Spoiler: there is.

I turned 50 and had a little moment.
Not a crisis — more like a clarity.
I looked around at friends with pensions, holidays, retirement plans…
And I realized I had none of that.
Not because I didn't work hard.
Because I was in an industry that doesn't come with a safety net.
And I thought —
I want coffee on the patio on a Tuesday morning.
I want to hook up the RV on a Wednesday just because we feel like it.
I want that.
So I built toward it.

Honest question — are you more scared of failing or of staying exactly where you are? Because when I really sat with that question, the answer surprised me. Staying stuck scared me more. I had worked so hard for so long and had nothing building in the background. No plan. No exit. No safety net. The fear of trying something new was loud — but the fear of doing nothing was louder.
