When I saw this Electric Blue Leather at OA Leather Supply I had to have it, I would figure out the projects as they come. Then I paired it with some sentimental Blie Dyed Harp Seal. I used this Hide 7 years ago making my first pair of booties for my unborn 1st son. I used White Deerskin for the piping and accented with Gunmetal hardware and White Ritza Tiger thread.

We’ve been a little quiet around here lately — but for a very good reason.

For the past several months, we’ve been hard at work in the shop preparing one of the largest collections of leatherwork we’ve put together. Until now, we’ve had to keep the reason for all that work under wraps, but we can finally share the news:

Rupertsland Hide & Awl is heading to CRAFTED: Show + Sale in Winnipeg, November 6–8, 2026!
We’re incredibly excited to be bringing a collection of our work from Yellowknife to Winnipeg and to be exhibiting alongside an outstanding group of artists and makers from across the North and Canada.

Everything we’re bringing has been made by hand in our Yellowknife shop, with the same focus on traditional leathercraft, quality materials, and pieces built to be used for years.

So if you’ve been wondering why things have been a little quiet on our page, the shop certainly hasn’t been quiet. We’ve been cutting, stitching, dyeing, finishing, and getting ready for November.
Over the next few weeks, we’ll finally start showcasing some of the pieces we’ve been working on — including some of the work that will be coming with us to CRAFTED.

Simple. Sturdy. Made to work.

A custom leather sheath built for a Helle Hellefisk — a lightweight Norwegian fishing knife with a cork handle and a 123 mm Sandvik 12C27 stainless-steel blade.

The Hellefisk has been produced since 1992 and was designed as a practical fishing knife that will even float if it goes overboard.

The sheath is kept deliberately straightforward: russet-brown Fiebing’s dye, dark-brown Ritza Tiger thread, black hardware, a secure retention strap and a sturdy belt loop. Nothing unnecessary — just good leather, strong stitching and a design meant to be used.

A Norwegian knife, fitted out with a handmade sheath from Canada’s North.

A small farewell gift for a friend and comrade preparing to leave Yellowknife for their next posting.

This matching pair of hand-tooled leather coasters features the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry crest, YK PPCLI, and “Albright” stamped beneath. Each piece was cut, tooled, stitched, and edge-finished by hand.

A practical keepsake for raising a glass to old friends, shared service, and the next chapter ahead.

Proud to have worked beside him for the past 3 years.
