We know more about reducing dementia risk than ever. The challenge now is helping people act.

The latest AgeTech Insights Report, Unlocking Dementia Prevention: The Role of Technology in Supporting Brain Health, draws on insights from more than 2,000 adults aged 40+ in Canada and the United Kingdom.

While 68% of respondents agree that dementia risk can be reduced, only 17% feel more than moderately confident in their ability to reduce their own risk. These and other findings show that moving from awareness to action requires more than information. People need support that reflects the specific barriers they face.

The report examines:
🧠 Where gaps in knowledge and confidence remain
🚧 What prevents people from adopting brain-healthy behaviours
📱 How technology can support motivation, habit-building and access to trusted guidance

💰 Income Adequacy

Women face a lifelong gender income gap—and its effects continue into older age.

Compared to men, older women were more likely to report:
• Inadequate income (24% vs. 19%)
• Material deprivation (23% vs. 16%)

Income adequacy shapes nearly every aspect of ageing, from health to social participation.

Supporting financial security across the life course is key to healthy ageing.

Our office does systemic advocacy, but what does that mean in practice?

It means identifying gaps in the systems that affect seniors' lives, including health care, housing, and transportation, and using what we learn to advocate for positive change. Here's what that looks like:

🔸 We provide information about available services to help seniors and caregivers understand their options.

🔸 We amplify seniors' voices by listening to them and bringing their concerns forward to decision-makers.

🔸 We collaborate with service providers, organizations, and communities to improve seniors' services.

🔸 We make recommendations to government and service providers to advance the well-being and quality of life of all seniors.
