A few weeks ago, our team member, Kurtis Ulrich, was invited to attend the Seal River Watershed Alliance’s Land Summit in O-Pipon-Na-Piwin Cree Nation to present on wildfire-related topics.

The Seal River Watershed Alliance works to support the protection of the Seal River Watershed, an area spanning approximately 50,000 km² in Manitoba and the ancestral territory of many Indigenous Nations.

It was great to learn more about the important work being led by the Alliance and to share information on wildfire assessments and mitigation.

Thank you to the Alliance and O-Pipon-Na-Piwin Cree Nation for hosting such an engaging and informative gathering!

InterGroup Consultants is proud to have signed the City of Winnipeg Indigenous Accord at the Winnipeg City Hall.

Joining the Accord reflects our commitment to building respectful relationships, supporting reconciliation, and continuing to learn from and work alongside Indigenous Peoples and communities.

We were honoured to be part of this meaningful event and to join fellow Accord partners in celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day. It was wonderful to experience the celebration, cultural performances, and community spirit that helped make the day so special.

Yesterday was Bike to Work Day, and we're continuing the celebration of our cycling community through Bike Week! 🚲

Whether it's a daily commute, a snowy trail ride, or a trip downtown with a furry co-pilot, InterGroup cyclists are finding ways to get around on two wheels year-round.

Our team travelled to Moose Lake, Manitoba in January as part of the Moose Lake Land Use Study - a community-led project documenting traditional land use, culturally important areas, and land-based knowledge to support future planning and stewardship.

During the visit, we stayed at Big Island Camp, where we worked with Elders, knowledge holders, and community members through interviews, mapping, and land-based discussions to learn more about local land use and community priorities.

At -28°C (feels like -43°C), we travelled by snowmobile, watched community members go ice fishing, hunt, and set traps. We also shared fish fry dinners over heartfelt conversations, played bingo together, and were fortunate to witness incredible star-filled skies and dancing auroras at night. ✨

We are grateful to the Moose Lake community for their warmth and hospitality, which made the visit so meaningful and memorable.💙

We had a busy week at the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA) conference in Quebec City .

Jenn and Kristin joined environmental assessment professionals from across Canada and around the world to connect, share ideas, and discuss key topics shaping the field.

A highlight was Kristin speaking on the panel Communicating Truths: EA Practitioner Professional Ethics and Roles, where she shared insights on the role of practitioners, the importance of ethics in environmental assessment, and the value of clear communication in complex project environments.

Thank you to the IAIA organizers and everyone who made the week both insightful and memorable.

Our team takes book club very seriously. 🤓
So seriously that we keep up with our reading wherever work takes us.

Last year, InterGroup started a book club to create space for reading, reflection, and conversations around Indigenous perspectives and histories.

Our most recent read was Wînipêk: Visions of Canada from an Indigenous Centre by Niigaan Sinclair ✨

This was definitely one of those books that stayed with us long after the final chapter.

We spent time connecting with community members—listening, learning, and gathering local knowledge to help shape a stewardship plan that reflects community priorities and respect for the land🌎💬
