Move over flip charts and coloured stickers...group brainstorming and idea sharing is available through an online whiteboard application that allows multiple stakeholders to share ideas and offer feedback as you can see here in this quick video. In this example, a company is conducting a SWOT analysis with colour coded notes that can be combined and prioritized as the flow of work progresses.

It was 3 years ago on a cold November morning that I got the call all economic development professionals dread. A pending plant closure in their community.

It has been a lot of work and more meetings and plant tours than I ever expected, but I am thrilled that the silver lining is now shining around this cloud and that 2+ years of work can be announced. The team at Kingwood development was a treat to deal with and I know that Thamesford will benefit from their experience and commitment to rural development.

How will your rural township spend this unexpected, one-time funding that was announced today?

Given all of the cuts the Ford government is making, what do you think this one-time fund signals?

(I spoke to several townships today and this truly was unexpected. The noticed without much explanation. In speaking to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing...where the funds originated...even they had no idea where the funds came from or for what purpose they were distributed.)

The money will be allocated based on the number of households in a municipality and whether the municipality is urban or rural.
