The global outlook - what can we expect?
And what is women's role in shaping it?
The World Economic Forum's Global Risks Report 2026 suggests that most leaders anticipate the next decade to remain volatile.
So is the outlook all grim?
Fortunately, not at all.
It was encouraging to see across various presentations and discussions in Davos this week that there are also significant opportunities for economic growth and social progress - and that women have a critical role in shaping them.
Here are a few of those opportunities:
1️⃣. Women's Health: historically underfunded, women's health is now estimated to represent an opportunity of around $100 billion. This reflects not only an economic potential but also a chance to close gaps in health care equality.
2️⃣. AI as an economic enabler: AI is unlocking new pathways for startups globally. For example, around 75% of young people in Africa say they are considering launching a tech business within the next five years, hence creating new opportunities for entrepreneurship and employment
3️⃣. Sustainability: Around 60% of CEOs report confidence about meeting net-zero goals by 2030. Yet a shortage of skilled talent remains a barrier. Creating inclusive workplaces and investing in women's STEM education can help to fill this talent gap and accelerate progress.
4️⃣. Tourism: While volatile tariffs challenge trade, countries can leverage tourism as a growth catalyst. For example, Saudi Arabia has shared plans to create about 1 million jobs in tourism, with a 40% representation of women.
5️⃣. Leadership: the challenges ahead demand new ways to lead and women can co-shape these new pathways. In another post, I'll be sharing in more depth how leadership is changing.

➡️ A question for you:
• Where do you see further opportunities for growth?
• And how can your field offer an inclusive workplace for women?

How can we use blockchain in transport infrastructure projects?

That was one of my questions at Davos this week. With so many tech experts gathered here, I had a chance to explore this topic with specialists in this field and gain a better understanding.
Today, l had the pleasure of speaking with Dr Efi Pylarinou, a Global Fintech leader & Tech Influencer. She shared two insightful and practical ways blockchain can be used in infrastructure projects:
1) Blockchain as an immutable and traceable ledger to record data and transaction. For example for logistics and supply chains
2) Smart contracts allowing contracts to be executed without an intermediary, for example for contractual payments.
I'm sharing a brief video clip of Dr. Efi Pylarinou explaining these use cases. (You may need to turn up the volume a bit)

I am curious about your thoughts:
• What do you think about these use cases?
• Which other applications of blockchain do you see for transport infrastructure projects?

Mary-Claire King's ideas, once dismissed, changed the course of science, medicine, and early detection.

After 17 years of research, King identified the BRCA1 gene, linking it to inherited breast and ovarian cancers. Her discovery transformed how we detect, diagnose, and prevent cancer—saving lives through early detection and genetic testing.

But she didn’t stop there. King used the same science to fight for justice by reuniting kidnapped children in Argentina with their families using DNA.

She showed the world that science is not just about discovery, but also humanity. In 2014, she was awarded the National Medal of Science. And we’re still feeling the ripple effect of her brilliance.

🚀 Top 5 Signs You’re Ready for a Career Breakthrough

Ever feel like something’s stirring just below the surface — like you’re meant for more, but can’t quite name what?
Here are 5 signs that you’re not stuck. Rather, you might be on the edge of a career breakthrough:
1️⃣ You feel restless, even when things are “going fine.”
Your role may look good on paper, but deep down, you're not satisfied. That quiet frustration? It’s not a red flag: it's a signal.
2️⃣ You’re craving growth — but not just another promotion.
You want more meaning, more challenge, more alignment. A new title won't fix a lack of fulfilment.
3️⃣ You keep asking: “Is this it?”
That question can feel scary — but it’s the gateway to something deeper. Breakthroughs often begin with curiosity.
4️⃣ You’re under-utilizing your strengths.
When your real talents sit on the shelf too long, motivation dips. You’re ready to lead, innovate, or build something new ... and you know it.
5️⃣ You’ve outgrown old goals.
The version of success you once chased? It doesn’t excite you anymore. You’re evolving and your career needs to evolve with you

✨ If you recognize yourself here, that's good news:
It means you’re ready to make a change before burnout or boredom hits. You’re not behind. You're on the brink.

A question I’m often asked is: How did you step into your first leadership role? 💡
In this reel, I share a key moment that changed my career path and the lessons I learned along the way. As a young professional at that time, taking that first step wasn’t easy, but it taught me the value of courage, taking action, and the importance of talking to people about your goals.
