Happy National Dog Day. I should declare my bias immediately. I live with several dogs. My house is loud, full of hair, and there is almost never a moment when someone is not leaning against my leg while I am trying to work.

So this is not a day I observe from a distance. I have skin in this game, and paws all over it.

Which is why one number in APPA's 2026 Dog Report stopped me.

Dog owners now spend a larger share of their pet budget on veterinary care than on food. 29% against 27%.

That looks like a narrow gap. It describes something real about what a dog has become in a household. Food is what you give an animal. Health is what you give a family member.

What makes it striking is the year it happened in.

This was a tight year. Dog owners moved food buying to supermarkets and discounters, brought grooming back into the home and hunted value almost everywhere they could find it. They found savings in nearly every category.

And then they protected the part that keeps the dog well.

Ownership grew anyway. 71 million U.S. households now have a dog, 53% of all households, roughly 4 million more in a single year. Gen X dog ownership rose 12%, which tells you this stopped being a young person's story some time ago.

I spend my working life on both sides of these deals, sitting with founders who built something real and with buyers deciding what it is worth. Health share rising while everything around it trades down is the kind of signal that changes how a growth case should be written. It says the durable value in this sector sits in nutrition, early diagnostics and prevention. Not because those are fashionable categories, but because they are the last things a household gives up.

Every model I look at is ultimately describing people like me. Someone at home, surrounded by dogs, quietly deciding what they will not compromise on.

Today, though, the numbers can wait.

To the dogs who make us laugh at ourselves, who insist on going out in the rain, who know before we do that something is wrong, and who end up in the middle of every family photograph. Mine included, all of them, constantly:

Thank you. Happy National Dog Day. 💜

World Entrepreneurs’ Day | Stop glorifying the hustle. Start glorifying the decision.

Entrepreneurship isn’t just about big ideas. It’s about making the right decisions when the answers aren’t obvious, the market is unpredictable, and everyone has an opinion.

The latest GEM research shows entrepreneurial activity at record levels but the “Survival Gap” is widening. More businesses are starting, but fewer are becoming established companies.

So maybe the question isn’t:

“How do I work harder?”

It’s:

“How do I make better decisions?”

That’s where Decide with Grace™ comes in — a practical Leader’s Framework for Clarity, Courage & Growth.

Six principles:
→ Clarity over Certainty
→ Alignment over Approval
→ Momentum over Perfection
→ Presence & Intuition
→ Courage & Resilience
→ Impact with Ease

Because leadership isn’t about having every answer.

It’s about having the courage to decide without perfect certainty.

Decide with clarity.
Decide with courage.
Decide with grace.™

Happy World Entrepreneurs’ Day!

Happy International Cat Day.

Here is what most people miss. Cats are not the quiet corner of the pet world anymore. They are the fastest growing part of it.

In Europe, cats have overtaken dogs. 129 million to 106 million. In the US, cat ownership jumped 8.2% in a single year. Nestlé reports cat ownership growing around three times faster than dog ownership.

For years this industry was built dog first. Dog first food. Dog first shelf space. Dog first everything. Cats got the leftovers and were expected to purr about it.

Cats do not purr on command. Ask anyone who has tried. 😼
So today is not only about being cute. It is about care that finally matches love.

Better nutrition. Better health checks. Better products made for how a cat actually lives.

Every purr tells a story. Every paw leaves love.
Your cat is not a pet. Your cat runs the house and lets you pay rent.

Tag your cat below. I want to see who is really in charge.

🐾 Happy International Cat Day. To every cat, and to every human who thinks they own one.

Happy Swiss National Day

735 years ago, three small communities decided they were stronger together than apart. No fanfare. No funding round. Just an agreement and a very long horizon.

That instinct never left this place.
Switzerland taught me most of what I know about building things that last.
Precision beats speed. One product built right outlives three rushed to market.

Trust is a business model. It takes decades to earn and one quarter to lose.
Small is not the same as limited. Nine million people. A top ten global economy. Scale is a decision, not a headcount.

Consensus is not weakness. Four languages, 26 cantons, one country. Alignment is the hard work, and it is the work.

I build companies and advise on deals in animal health and pet care from a desk in Zurich. Every negotiation table carries a little of this. Do the quiet work. Keep your word. Play the long game.

To my Swiss colleagues, clients, and neighbors: enjoy the Celebration. You earned it.

Happy 1st of August.

250 years ago, a small group of people did something remarkable. They decided.

Independence was not inevitable. It was a choice made by leaders who were willing to bet on a better future before the outcome was certain.

Two and a half centuries later, the lesson still holds for anyone building something that matters. Progress does not come from waiting for perfect conditions. It comes from the courage to choose, and the grace to keep choosing when the path gets hard.
That is leadership. It always has been.

Happy Independence Day to everyone celebrating today.

Happy Fathers' Day 🤍

There's a particular kind of leadership that never asks for recognition.

It shows up early and stays late. It carries weight without complaint. It teaches not through speeches, but through the quiet consistency of showing up, again and again, when it matters most.

Fathers teach us resilience when things get hard. They teach us responsibility when no one is watching. And they teach us, more than anything, that the most lasting influence comes from leading by example.

Today, we honor the fathers who shaped how we work, how we love, and how we lead. The lessons you gave us live on in every decision we make.

To every father, and to everyone carrying a father's memory forward today, thank you. Your contribution is invaluable, and your influence is timeless.

Happy Father's Day 🐞

You're not here to watch the pet industry change. You're here to be the reason it does. 🐾

Here's the truth most leaders are too polite to say out loud: the pet economy is moving faster than the people running it. More than 100 million pet owners now use AI to make smarter, faster, more loyal buying decisions, and the brands paying attention are quietly running off with the future.
So I'm pulling the bold ones into one room.

Introducing Pet Industry Rising 2026: When AI Makes Pets Priceless. A free, global online summit for the founders, CEOs, and decision-makers who would rather define this industry's next chapter than wait around to read it.

This is built on one belief: the future of pet care belongs to courageous leaders who pair innovation with integrity. No talking heads. No filler panels. Just the people actually shaping where pet care goes next.

Here's what's in it for you:
✔️ A produced executive leadership interview with me, made for global release
✔️ Prime visibility across LinkedIn, YouTube, and industry media
✔️ A personalized brand highlight video, yours to keep and use
✔️ A complimentary Decide with Grace™ strategy session
✔️ Automatic consideration for the Ladybird Digital Impact Honor

And that honor? There's no application form. Real recognition isn't applied for, it's earned. Your interview is your nomination. Your thinking is your case.

This is more than a summit. It's your stage to shine, lead, and be recognized as one of the voices defining the future of the pet industry.

📅 Interview window: 10 June to 10 August 2026. After that, the story gets written without you in it.

If you're the kind of leader who shapes the narrative instead of surviving it, you already know what to do.

Link in the first comment. I'd love to see your name on the list.

Today is World Pet Memorial Day.

I have spent more than twenty five years working in pet health, and in all that time one truth has never changed: the animals we love do not stay with us long enough.

They give us their whole lives. A few short years that somehow hold a lifetime of comfort, loyalty, and quiet companionship.

They greet us at the door. They sit beside us through the hard seasons. They ask for so little and give us everything.

And when they are gone, the silence they leave behind tells us exactly how much space they filled.

So today I am not thinking about products or markets. I am thinking about the dogs and cats and companions who shaped the people we became.

The ones who waited by the window. The ones who knew our moods before we did. The ones who are, and always will be, forever in our hearts.

If you have loved and lost a pet, I hope today gives you a moment to remember them gently.

This Mother’s Day, we celebrate the incredible women whose love, strength, sacrifice, and endless support shape families, communities, and futures every single day. 💜

Mothers are the quiet force behind countless dreams, nurturing with compassion, leading with resilience, and giving from the heart without expecting anything in return.

Today, we honor and appreciate every mother, grandmother, caregiver, and mother figure who makes the world a little warmer, kinder, and brighter.
Wishing you a day filled with love, joy, and the appreciation you truly deserve. 🌸✨

Happy Mother’s Day.
