FRENCH VERB
Today, we will study French verb in present tense.
In order to keep it short i will start by telling you:
1. French verb is not easy to conjugate at all
2. French verb can be used in different tenses just like English (present,past,future etc)
3. You must know the FORMULA of each tense
4. French verb has 3 groups (1st group, 2nd group & 3rd group)
5. *First group verb* ends with "er" EXCEPT "aller"
6. Second group ends with "ir"
7. Third group ends with "ir, re, oir" including all irregular verbs
*Our focus will be on 1st group verb in present tense*
Now what is the FORMULA for 1st group verb???
It is PRONOUN + VERB + ENDINGS
PRONOUN - je, tu, il/elle, nous, vous, ils/elles
VERB - any verb that ends with ER
ENDINGS - e , es, e, ons, ez, ent
NOW LET US CONJUGATE
1. CHANTER - To Sing
Je chante i am singing
Tu chantes You are singing
Il / elle chante he / she is singing
Nous chantons. We are singing
Vous chantez. You are singing
Ils / elles chantent They are singing
Example
I am singing - *je chante*
He sings well - *il chante bien*
They are singing outside - *elles chantent dehors*
2. DANSER - To Dance
Je danse. I am dancing
Tu danses. You are dancing
Il / elle danse. He/she is dancing
Nous dansons. We are dancing
Vous dansez. You are dancing
Ils / elles dansent. They are dancing
