On August 21, 2026, the 's Scientific Advisory Group on Chemical Safety of Non-Food and Non-Medicinal Consumer Products (SAG-CS) published its safety opinions on seven cosmetic ingredients, including triclocarban, triclosan, o-phenylphenol, sodium o-phenylphenate, daidzein, resorcinol, and silver. The opinions provide safety conclusions for these ingredients based on the latest scientific evidence, considering their potential endocrine-disrupting properties or CMR (carcinogenic, mutagenic, or toxic for reproduction) concerns.

🇹🇭 On August 19, 2026, published the Notification of the Ministry of Public Health (No. 472) B.E. 2569 (2026) Re: Prescribing Principles, Conditions and Methods for the Use of Substances in Food Produced for Sale, Imported for Sale, or Sold (No. 2).

This regulation amends the conditions for using methyl alcohol (methanol) in food production, expanding its permitted use as a processing aid.

On August 21, 2026, the Thai Food and Drug Administration (Thai FDA) released the Draft Announcement of the Cosmetics Committee on Cosmetics Labeling (No. ..) B.E. …. for public consultation, proposing a voluntary digital labeling framework for . The draft📝 supplements the existing Announcement of the Cosmetics Committee on Cosmetics Labeling B.E. 2562 (2019). The public consultation is open until September 19, 2026. ⌛️

The draft would allow digital for all types of cosmetics on a voluntary basis, without making it mandatory. Companies that do not use digital labeling would continue to comply with the existing 2019 labeling requirements. The draft also proposes defining "digital labeling" as a symbol, code, or other means that enables cosmetic information to be presented electronically.

On August 20, 2026, the Thai Food and Drug Administration (Thai FDA) issued a press release to clarify the classification and safe use of fluoride , following the enforcement of the Ministry of Public Health's Notification on Dangerous Drugs dated August 6, 2026. The announcement aims to reassure the public that general fluoride toothpastes remain safe for daily use and are still regulated as cosmetics, while specifically classifying high-concentration 5,000 ppm🔺 fluoride toothpastes as dangerous drugs.
