You work full time and want to have a garden, but you don't have the time to invest a lot of money in w**ding. Can a tarp be used to stop the w**ds in your backyard garden?
As the weather starts to get hotter and sunnier, get your garden in order. One of the most tiresome tasks is dealing with w**ds.
We all know that the humble tarp is one of the most useful and versatile items around the house - but did you know that it can even help you with gardening? To be exact, it can help you w**d!" .
A tarp can block the sun and prevent w**ds from growing. However, you must be careful. Most tarps don't allow air flow, so if you cover them with a tarp, you'll also keep your plants from thriving. Use them instead of mulching walkways to w**d around your plants. It's easier than you think.
To use concealment in your garden, simply mow the area you plan to plant three weeks before summer planting, six weeks in the cooler months, and then pull the Roc Tarp w**d control tarp over it, making sure the black side is facing up. Use wood, sandbags, tires or dirt to hold down both ends of the tarp. These tarps are actually more susceptible to wind because they are not tied down, so make sure they are secure. Allow as much time as possible for the tarp to be removed. When you remove the tarp, surface w**ds should be eliminated and the soil should look clean. Leave them longer if necessary.
You will need to use a heavy weight to press down on the edges and middle portion of these tarps. This is to create an airtight seal and to ensure that water cannot enter the seedbed. Some people use planting bags filled with sand as weights, or use bricks, or even old tires as weights. Others use soil to seal the edges, all of which can be done with ARK w**d cloth.
Hot Tip. Fold and roll the tarp over the core of a PVC drain pipe for "easy" disposal and reuse.
