202A : Modular shelving system
Designed by 2M2 for the online shop of aesthetic platform Malt, 202A offers a modular shelving system that creates freedom and autonomy in space planning for users and embraces the future trend of hybrid places.
The collection is named after the office solution that first ran in the 202A creative space. What started as a non-customised shelving that could be used both at home and in the office has evolved into a multi-scenario universal furniture system that combines shelves and supports.
LIGHT & HEAVY
Its initial goal was to address the original burden of fixed frames, the zero-sum between load-bearing and lightness, and subsequently to take into account the entire complex contemporary panorama. This points to the development of a strong and flexible adaptive programme rather than the search for a specific form.
The need for the idea was exacerbated by covid-19, where geographic disruption meant facing the need for temporary transfers and adapting to new environments. Everything revolves around the feasibility of a universal approach – a broader, more applicable and flexible approach to shelving. In other words, a robust, flexible, adaptive modular system that encourages use and anyone’s creative ideas.
202A modular shelving system
The 202A is a modular shelving system, an innovation in universal shelving that brings maximum expansion, adaptability and superior load bearing in a highly flexible modular unit. It contains a range of flexible components and modules, all of which are limited to an adult arm length.
This system supports the realisation of different combination solutions. The vertical system is also a digital support unit and can be used independently as a TV support. All fixings are reversible connections and the frame form depends on user customisation, supporting disassembly and reconfiguration for mobility and scenario creativity in the context of unlimited expansion. On the other hand, it serves the space. 202A brings a load range of 60kg per shelf to configure a variety of spaces including homes, offices, meeting rooms, commercial exhibition scenarios and even large libraries, and further supports situation-specific adaptations.

202A aims to provide a universal solution for mobile living environments and complex spaces, creating a new type of shelving that responds instantly to changing and shifting spatial needs, which means integrating the benefits of the category and addressing their limitations in an integrated way.
At the heart of this innovation is the T-post pole frame structure, which supports the creation of more agile and freely changing non-custom shelving. The design eliminates the need for extra-long continuous rods and fixed installations, and uses a patented structural solution that ensures that the entire frame is mechanically compact. It allows for a wide variety of configurations on an infinitely expandable basis: the length of the post can be further adapted depending on the number of sections of the post unit – in conjunction with the telescopic base – allowing for asymmetrical sequences rather than customisation, especially when it comes to spanning horizontal ceilings.

The revolutionary T-post rod holder solution is now the original and only one of its kind. The clamping link is seen as the key to a wide range of connections, allowing the entire pole to be used as an independent support element for media functions or other extensions in conjunction with hanging devices. For example, the T-post can be used as a TV stand on its own without adding structural elements, allowing for a non-shelf furniture extension that is unique in the history of the product.
