Too sour: Hurts the liver and spleen. Liver energy becomes too strong, which suppresses the spleen. You may lose your appetite and feel bloated.

Too salty: Hurts the kidneys and heart. Bones may feel weak and sore, muscles can shrink and become dry, and you might feel low or depressed.

Too sweet: Hurts the heart and kidneys. You may experience a racing heart, chest tightness, a dark complexion, and your kidney energy becomes unbalanced.

Too bitter: Hurts the spleen and stomach. The fluids that moisten the spleen and stomach dry up, and instead your stomach feels uncomfortably full and bloated.

Too spicy (pungent): Hurts the lungs and sinews. Your tendons and muscles lose elasticity, become slack and weak, and your overall energy and spirit feel drained.

The state of being vigorous in daytime and tranquil at night hinges not on age, but on the circulation of qi, blood, nutrient and defensive qi. Age is merely an external manifestation; the abundance or decline of qi and blood, as well as the unobstruction of qi pathways, constitute the fundamental root.

"The dryness of Zao, the burning of Huo(Fire), and the steaming of Shu(Summer-heat) are all categorized as Yang pathogens capable of consuming body fluids; however, their natures differ, and thus their treatments vary.
Dryness is characterized by parching, contraction, and astringency; its treatment lies in moistening dryness and diffusing the Lung.
Fire manifests as blazing, scorching, and upward flaring; its treatment lies in clearing heat and draining fire.
Summer-heat is defined by its ascending, dispersing nature often complicated by dampness; its treatment lies in clearing summer-heat, replenishing Qi, and simultaneously resolving dampness."

The rainwater around the Grain Rain solar term not only nourishes the crops but also helps boost the body's yang qi. The core of wellness during this period is to focus on soothing the liver and regulating qi, as well as strengthening the spleen and eliminating dampness, with the support of spring's yang energy, thereby laying a solid foundation for the upcoming summer.

Cold milk, raw fruits, salads… these can easily harm your Spleen Yang.
Try swapping them for: millet & pumpkin porridge, steamed Chinese yam, or a warm bowl of ginger‑date rice milk.
The Spleen and Stomach are the foundation of your postnatal vitality. Nourish them well — and your complexion, along with your energy, will come back to you.

Feel free to pair this with a warm, comforting food photo or a simple illustration of the Spleen meridian. Let me know if you'd like hashtags or a shorter version for captions!

In the mutual restriction relationship of the five elements, Wood overcoming Earth represents a normal process of restriction and balance. The Liver corresponds to Wood; it has a Yin substance but manifests Yang function, governing free flow and regulating the movement of qi throughout the body. The Spleen corresponds to Earth and governs transportation and transformation, while the Stomach governs reception and decomposition. Together, they are called the Central Region and serve as the source for the production of qi and blood. When Liver qi flows smoothly, it promotes the orderly ascending and descending of Spleen and Stomach qi — the Spleen qi ascends, sending clear yang upward to the Heart and Lungs; the Stomach qi descends, sending turbid yin downward to the Small and Large Intestines.
