The Battery Recycling Expo will take place in Frankfurt, Germany, on 17–18 June.
Ahead of the exhibition, I would like to share a piece of advice with clients who are currently evaluating lithium-ion battery recycling projects:
Before viewing the equipment, consider these five questions carefully.
1. What type of batteries will be your feedstock?
Are they power batteries, consumer electronics batteries, or a mix of both?
2. How many tonnes do you plan to process per day?
Production capacity determines the equipment configuration, as well as the investment budget and facility requirements.
3. What is your target end product?
Is it black powder, copper and aluminium, or higher-purity sorted materials?
4. What are the safety, dust, exhaust emissions and environmental regulations in your country or region?
Lithium battery recycling is not simply a matter of crushing; safety and compliance must be considered in advance.
5. Are you more concerned with the initial purchase price, or with long-term, stable operating costs?
A good recycling production line is not just about the machines running; it must also be stable, safe, and deliver controllable output quality.
Many clients ask directly about price during their initial enquiry.
However, in actual projects, the factors that truly impact profitability are often: recovery rate, downtime, labour costs, energy consumption, safety controls, and back-end processing costs.
If you are planning a lithium-ion battery recycling project, we recommend first clarifying your raw materials, production capacity, target end products and local environmental regulations. This will ensure more accurate discussions with equipment suppliers and help you avoid many pitfalls.
