China fertilizer market trading underperformed in H1 2014, resulting in lowering production loads. China produced 34,450kt NPK fertilizer in the first six months of 2014, down 1.8% from the same period last year.
Entering July, fertilizer products prices began to warm up but still far lower than the same period last year. Taking urea as an example, domestic price average at RMB 1,541.92/mt EXW, up 1.4% m-o-m but down 13.1% y-o-y. With rebounding fertilizer prices, market business improved and fertilizer yields are expected to increase in H2 2014.

High Styrene Rubber – A Special Variety of SBR

High styrene rubber, a special variety of styrene butadiene rubber (SBR), is produced from the emulsion polymerization of styrene and butadiene, but its styrene content is much higher than that of SBR 1502. HS-860 is the major grade of high styrene rubber in China, of which styrene and butadiene contents are 60%-65% and 35%-40% respectively. It has good mechanical property and elasticity; besides, it can be compatible with natural rubber, polybutadiene rubber and SBR.

Adding high styrene rubber can improve the aging and abrasive resistance of products due to its high styrene content. Now high styrene rubber is mainly applied in shoemaking, tire, rubber covered roller, block rubber, etc. Judging from the historical price data, correlation degree of high styrene rubber and styrene price is as high as 80% and above.

National Development and Reform Commissions published the natural gas market brief in H1, 2014.

Natural gas yield was 63.2 billion m3 in H1, hiking 7.5% compared with the same period in 2013.

China imported 28.3 billion m3, up 14.4% y-o-y. Thereinto, the increase of pipeline gas is 15.2% and the one of LNG is 13.9%.

The natural gas apparent consumption was 88.7 billion m3, picking up 8.9% on the whole, which was 8.4% during the first quarter and 9.4% in the second.
