💰 0% TAX IN CYPRUS ? 🇨🇾

For international entrepreneurs, investors and high-net-worth individuals, the Cyprus Non-Dom Regime offers one of the most attractive personal tax frameworks in the EU.

Qualifying Cyprus tax residents with Non-Dom status can benefit from:

✅ 0% Special Defence Contribution (SDC) on dividend income
✅ 0% SDC on passive interest income
✅ Non-Dom benefits for up to 17 years
✅ Cyprus tax residency potentially available under the 60-Day Rule
✅ No wealth tax in Cyprus
✅ No inheritance tax in Cyprus

This makes Cyprus particularly attractive for company founders, investors and internationally mobile professionals receiving substantial dividend or investment income.

⚠️ Important: The 0% treatment refers to the exemption from Special Defence Contribution (SDC). GeSY contributions may still apply to dividend income, subject to the applicable rules and annual contribution limits.

At CORPERA, we can assess your circumstances and assist with your Cyprus tax residency and Non-Dom registration from start to finish.

Most international business owners focus on where to operate.

✅ The smartest ones focus on where to own.

Whether you’re expanding internationally, protecting valuable assets, or building a group of companies, a Cyprus Holding Company can be one of the most effective structures available in Europe.

Cyprus combines a stable legal framework, EU membership and an internationally recognised tax system, making it a preferred jurisdiction for entrepreneurs, investors and multinational groups.

Here are some of the key advantages:

🔹 No withholding tax on dividends, interest and royalties paid to non-Cyprus tax resident shareholders (subject to the applicable legal provisions).

🔹 0% tax on gains from the disposal of qualifying securities, including shares, under Cyprus tax legislation.

🔹 Extensive Double Tax Treaty Network, with more than 65 tax treaties that can help optimise international tax efficiency.

🔹 Access to key EU Directives, facilitating efficient cross-border group structures where the relevant conditions are met.

🔹 Flexible corporate legislation, allowing Cyprus holding companies to own investments, subsidiaries and intellectual property, while also engaging in additional business activities where appropriate.

However, the structure is far more important than simply incorporating a company.

To maximise the available benefits, careful planning, proper management and control, sufficient economic substance and ongoing compliance are essential.

At CORPERA, we help entrepreneurs, investors and international groups design Cyprus holding structures that are commercially practical, legally robust and tailored to their long-term objectives.

📢 Important Update – Extension of VAT & VIES Filing Deadline in 🇨🇾

The Cyprus Tax Department has officially extended the deadline for:

✅ Submission and payment of the VAT Return for the tax period ended 30 June 2026
✅ Submission of the VIES Return for July 2026

📅 New Deadline: 20 August 2026

The extension has been granted due to the summer holiday period, giving businesses additional time to meet their tax obligations.

⚠️ Please note: Returns submitted after 20 August 2026 may be subject to the following penalties:

• €100 penalty for the late submission of the VAT Return
• 10% additional tax on the VAT payable
• €50 penalty for the late submission of the VIES Return

Although additional time has been provided, we strongly encourage businesses to complete their VAT and VIES obligations well before the deadline to avoid last-minute issues or unnecessary penalties.

If you require any assistance with your VAT or VIES submissions, our team is here to help.

❌ Stop paying unnecessary tax on your dividends.

✅ Here’s why many business owners choose Cyprus.

Most entrepreneurs have heard about Cyprus’ Non-Dom regime.

What many don’t realise is that, when the conditions are met, it can significantly reduce the tax burden on dividend and interest income for up to 17 years.

Here’s what you should know:

✔️ If you become a Cyprus tax resident but are not domiciled in Cyprus, you may qualify for Non-Dom status.

✔️ Qualifying individuals are generally exempt from Special Defence Contribution (SDC) on dividend and interest income.

✔️ The exemption can apply for 17 out of the first 20 years of Cyprus tax residency.

✔️ Tax residency may be established under either the 183-day rule or, where all statutory conditions are satisfied, the 60-day rule.

For many international entrepreneurs, investors and company owners, this creates an opportunity to structure their affairs in a fully legal, transparent and EU-compliant manner.

However, Non-Dom status is not automatic.

The correct tax residency, proper registrations, supporting documentation and ongoing compliance are all essential to benefit from the regime.

At CORPERA, we help business owners and high-net-worth individuals evaluate whether Cyprus is the right jurisdiction for them and ensure the entire process is handled correctly from the outset.

🇨🇾 THINK YOU CAN’T BECOME A CYPRUS TAX RESIDENT BECAUSE YOU’RE ALREADY TAX RESIDENT ELSEWHERE? Think again.

A major change to the Cyprus 60-Day Tax Residency Rule came into effect from 1 January 2026.

✅ The previous requirement that an individual must not be tax resident in any other country has been removed.

This opens new planning opportunities for:

• International entrepreneurs
• Business owners with cross-border activities
• Directors of Cyprus companies
• Digital entrepreneurs and investors
• Individuals seeking greater flexibility in their tax residency planning

However, this does NOT automatically make you a Cyprus tax resident.

If dual tax residency arises, the outcome will depend on the applicable Double Tax Treaty and the tie-breaker rules, making professional advice more important than ever.

Every case is different and careful planning is essential before making any decisions.

At CORPERA, we help international clients structure their affairs correctly, assess their tax residency position and ensure full compliance with Cyprus tax legislation.

⚠️ WARNING: Fake Tax Refund Emails Are Circulating

We have recently become aware of fraudulent emails claiming to be from the Cyprus Tax Department, informing recipients that they are entitled to a tax refund.

At first glance, these emails appear genuine. However, they are designed to trick recipients into clicking malicious links and disclosing sensitive personal or banking information.

Before you click, remember:

🔒 The Tax Department does not ask you to confirm banking details or personal information via email links.

🔒 Always verify the sender’s email address carefully.

🔒 Never click on links or download attachments from suspicious emails.

🔒 If you receive a message that seems unusual, contact your accountant or the Tax Department directly using their official contact details.

Cybercriminals often exploit tax filing periods because they know people expect to receive communications from government authorities.

At CORPERA, protecting our clients goes beyond tax compliance. We encourage all businesses and individuals to remain vigilant against phishing attempts and online fraud.

If you receive a suspicious tax-related email and are unsure whether it is genuine, contact us before taking any action.

Attention Cyprus Employers 📢

The filing of the Annual Employer’s Return (Form T.D.7) for the 2025 tax year is now open. Make sure your payroll records are fully reconciled before submission.

Also, don’t overlook the announced deadline for the 2026 Form T.D.7 (31 May 2027) when planning your payroll compliance.

If you need support, feel free to reach out to the CORPERA team.

📢 Annual Employer’s Return (Form T.D.7) – Tax Year 2025

The Annual Employer’s Return (Form T.D.7) for the 2025 tax year is now available for submission through the Cyprus Tax For All (TFA) platform.

✅ Submission deadline: 30 September 2026

Before submitting the Annual Employer’s Return, employers should ensure that their payroll records are fully reconciled with the Monthly Payroll Returns submitted through TFA. Salaries, bonuses, benefits, PAYE and GeSY contributions should be reviewed and verified in advance.

Employers making monthly PAYE and/or GeSY payments are expected to have submitted all 12 Monthly Payroll Returns for the year. In certain cases, where employees, directors or company secretaries receive remuneration without PAYE or GeSY deductions, the employer may still be required to submit at least one Monthly Payroll Return together with the Annual Form T.D.7.
