It has been a while since I updated this page, the reasons for which are many and valid. I am however back and shall be active again.
In the interim period I have been involved with sompe people as they work towards achieving accreditaion, with their workplace, in an inetrnational standardisation. This whole topic of standards is one that I am well versed in and have been closely linked to in my career for many years. They are an integral part of business life these days be it formalised by regulatory bodies, internal company policies, departmental practice .... or whatever they may be. It is my observation that often people get so bogged down in the process and the standard itself that they lose sight of what the end goal should be. Indeed I often question if the start goal has been totally forgotten.
Standards have their place but are they of value if they are bringing people, or processes, down to a level that they previously had been exceeding?
It is worth asking the question and speaking up if you can see something from your perspective that may not be visible to those driving the implementation.
