Some things simply cannot be replaced by technology. Human connection is one of them.

In a world increasingly shaped by virtual interactions, artificial intelligence and digital communication, moments like this remind us of something essential: the value of being together.

Different countries, languages and cultures. People meeting for the first time, thousands of kilometers away from home. And yet, genuine smiles, laughter and a sense of connection that needs no translation.

This photo captures one of our favorite moments from the Energie-Geschäftsreise .

Of course, business missions are about exploring markets, identifying opportunities and building partnerships. But they are also about creating an environment where people feel welcome, conversations flow naturally and professional relationships can grow into something more meaningful.

At , we believe that successful international business development is as much about people as it is about business.

And perhaps that is what makes this project so special to us: beyond the meetings, presentations and business opportunities, we created space for genuine human connections.

Because people matter. Relationships matter. And the way we make people feel matters, too.

How can smart grids and energy storage support industrial electrification and e-mobility in Mexico?

This was the central question bringing together experts from Mexico and Germany during the specialized conference of the German Energy Business Mission to Mexico 2026.

The program combined different perspectives on some of the key challenges facing Mexico’s evolving energy system:

▫️ Tom Herbold from inno2grid GmbH, shared Germany’s experience with smart grids, energy storage and e-mobility as an integrated system solution.

▫️ Jorge Musalem, from Shams Energía, addressed the challenges and priorities for modernizing Mexico’s energy infrastructure.

▫️ Juan Gustavo R. from Instituto de Energías Renovables (IER-UNAM), discussed the role of smart grids in supporting security of industrial energy supply and e-mobility.

▫️ Donata Kohlsdorf from E2M Energy to Market, explored energy storage as a flexibility solution for industry, grid integration and charging infrastructure.

▫️ And Manuel Martinez former president of Asociación Nacional de Energía Solar (ANES), and Yolanda Villegas, President of Asociación Mexicana de Almacenamiento, Electrificación y Movilidad (AMAEM), closed the program with a long-term perspective on the conditions needed to build resilient energy infrastructure for industry and e-mobility towards 2050.

The conference was opened by Maria Jose Sasse, Regional Manager Americas at the Coordination Office of the German Energy Solutions Initiative:

“This conference was an excellent platform for German companies to present their solutions, increase their visibility in Mexico, and establish direct links with relevant industry stakeholders. The quality of the topics and speakers also created a highly favorable environment for exchange and the development of new business relationships.”

A big thank you to all our speakers for sharing their expertise and contributing to a truly valuable German-Mexican exchange.

For Lena Schöffel from SCHERDEL, the Energie-Geschäftsreise Mexiko 2026 was an opportunity to gain first-hand insights into Mexico’s energy market, meet new potential partners and explore diversification opportunities beyond the automotive and e-mobility sectors.

With production facilities already established in Mexico, SCHERDEL is looking at the country’s energy infrastructure, energy efficiency and growing energy sector from another perspective: how can its experience and capabilities contribute to new business opportunities and cooperation in this market?

We were very happy to have Lena as part of this year’s German delegation, and particularly pleased to see a woman representing one of the participating companies.

At matters, supporting the participation and visibility of women in the energy sector is important to us. We believe that international business development also benefits from having more diverse voices, experiences and perspectives at the table.

For our next Energie-Geschäftsreise Mexiko in March 2027, we would love to see even more women representing German companies, building new connections and exploring business opportunities in Mexico.

Thank you, Lena, for being part of this journey and thank you, Maria Jose Sasse for the interview!

Thank you, Lena, for being part of this journey.

Strong networks grow through trust, shared values and a willingness to collaborate.

The Energie-Geschäftsreise Mexiko 2026 reminded us once again that international business development is not only about understanding a market. It is also about the people who shape it, and the connections that bring different perspectives, expertise and opportunities together.

During our days in Monterrey, we had the pleasure of meeting and reconnecting with people from different parts of Mexico’s energy and business ecosystem:

▫️ Jorge Musalem, CEO of Shams Energía; Yolanda Villegas president of Asociación Mexicana de Almacenamiento, Electrificación y Movilidad (AMAEM), Marlenne Valdez, City Council Member of Guadalupe Nuevo León, Eduardo D. Sánchez Martínez, Energy & Sustainability Consultant;

▫️ Marco Antonio Guzmán Aguilar and Manuel Gomez Herrera Lasso of the AMIF Asociación Mexicana de la Industria Fotovoltaica and Jorge Jaimes from Grupo ALENIA;

▫️ as well as Ana Yael Vanoye, Director of the Sustainable Development Engineering Program at Tecnológico de Monterrey.

Some are long-standing professional relationships. Others are more recent connections with people who approached us because they identified with what we are building and saw opportunities to collaborate.

And that is exactly how we understand community at matters: a network that is constantly growing, where established relationships and new connections come together around shared interests, knowledge and opportunities.

For companies entering a new market, this kind of ecosystem matters. Because a strong network is not simply about who you know. It is about trust, exchange, collaboration and the willingness to create opportunities together.

Thank you to everyone who supported the activities of the German business delegation and to those who continue to strengthen and expand this community with us.
