Barite Material Testing with Pelletizing Disc Scarabaeus

Recently, the largest barite producer in Europe visited our research and development center Haver Engineering GmbH in Freiberg, Germany, and conducted pelletizing tests with former residues for the production of pure flotation barite - a product specially developed for the production of high-grade batteries.
Due to the high internal moisture of the material, the producer encountered challenges during processing. Using our innovative testing equipment in our new laboratory, we were able to analyze the material and provide a mineral processing solution to increase their screening proficiency.

Here’s how it works:

1️⃣ First, the residues were analyzed.
2️⃣Upon the analysis and an intensive process discussion with the customer and Haver Engineering processing specialists, we determined that the solution involved mixing the residues with a binder and additive - a mixture with extremely high technical and economic potential.
3️⃣ From there, we processed the material using the Scarabaeus pelletizing disc. In order to obtain the perfect size and shape of the pellets, our client´s material was tested in combination with different proportions of the binder and the additive. We adjusted the pelletizing disc’s inclination, rotation speed, capacity and sidewall height in order to achieve the optimal drop number, moisture content and green pellet strength of the iron ore pellets.

By conducting the thorough material testing, we were able to help the producer ensure product quality and productivity.

In unserem Verbundprojekt haben wir die Anwendung der Elektroimpulstechnologie zur Aufbereitung komplexer Erze untersucht. Der Schlussbericht wurde nun in der Technischen Informationsbibliothek (TIB) veröffentlicht.

HAVER ENGINEERING hat als Ingenieurbüro für Aufbereitungstechnik und Spezialist für die technische Umsetzung wissenschaftlicher Erkenntnisse die Pilotanlage maß­ge­blich konstruiert und mit den Partnern aus Wissenschaft und Wirtschaft in Betrieb ge­nommen. HAVER ENGINEERING ist seit 12 Jahren ein An-Institut der Technischen Universität BERGAKADEMIE Freiberg und arbeitet seit dieser Zeit intensiv und erfolgreich mit dem Institut für Aufbereitungsmaschinen zusammen.

Heute ist im Bergbau ein besonderer Tag: der Tag der Heiligen Barbara, der Schutzheiligen der Bergleute. An diesem Tag möchten wir alle Bergleute ehren, bedanken uns für das erfolgreiche Bergbaujahr und bitten um Schutz für all diese Männer und Frauen, die jeden Tag damit verbringen, in der Erde zu graben. Sie gehören zu den größten unbesungenen Helden der Industrie und der modernen Zivilisation. Sie setzen jeden Tag ihr Leben aufs Spiel, um all die Reichtümer hervorzubringen, die uns helfen, unser modernes Leben zu gestalten - die Autos, die wir fahren, die Gebäude, in denen wir arbeiten, und die Straßen, auf denen wir gehen, gäbe es nicht ohne die Rohstoffe, die von den Bergarbeitern ausgegraben werden.
