We designers have a unique opportunity to change the world through our education. It is as I see it not only a gift but also a responsibility. In the light of the many consequences made to our environment by fossil fuels and a linear throwaway culture, it is becoming obvious to most people that we cannot continue as before. Good design is design where aesthetics and sustainability
are on equal terms, but for many designers it is still difficult incorporating sustainability in the design process. I want to help change that through Nordic Redesigners. Design is popularly linked with beautiful objects which primary objective is to help cover the consumer's need for showing personal identity, getting recognition, power and status. There is nothing wrong with this, but the fact is that design has the potential to be infinitely more, it is this “more” we offer through Nordic Redesigners. Nordic Redesigners
Nordic Redesigners builds on a growing freelancer market, a future trend with both advantages and disadvantages. Many designers today have two main choices: They can get a permanent position, which offers some economic stability and limited control of their work life. Alternatively, they can choose life as self-employed or as a freelancer. How the concept works
The customer will prepare a design brief for the sustainable design work they desire to create in collaboration with Nordic Redesigners . Through our online forum the customer connects with designers who has interest in taking on the assignment. The customer selects the designers she wants to work with and pays a base fee pr month. Our chief designer ensure the customers feedback is incorporated in the design. When the customer is satisfied they will pay the designers for IP rights and royalties or a fixed price per unit. In addition, to the design concept customers has the option to hire Nordic Redesigners for projects and project management. All in all Nordic Redesigners is not only a new lifestyle for the individual designer and a new workflow for design driven businesses, but also a more powerful and easier way to work with sustainability and CSR using the total skills set in our network.
