Training sailors for winning speed and tactics⛵️

A successful first day of the Miami Starboat Midwinters Series.
My sailing team Jack Jennings (USA) & Pedro Trouche(BRA) performed really well. They won the second race today and are overall 2nd in a very competitive Starboat fleet👍🇧🇷🇺🇸

A good preparation before the
regatta with four days of training gave the team the confidence to perform great starts, winning tactics and top speed.

Day One at the Walker Cup & Midwinters
2 good races, relatively flat water, northerly at 8-11 knots

Another great training camp coaching the Danish Knarr Class at the “Knarr Trim Cup” at Skovshoved Havn.

The training camp was arranged together with SKS, Dansk Knarr Klub, North Sails designer and Knarr sailor Henrik Søderlund.

Training started on land tuning the rig on all boats.
Mast rake, mast position and shroud tension was adjusted.
On water the focus was to improve the steering technique and sail adjustments in order to get more boat speed.
After 3 days of trimming all teams were sailing the boats really well and several made significant progress.
Therefor racing got quite close during the final of the Trim Cup where starts and tactical decisions decided the race.

Personally I have a life long experience with Knarr boat sailing. I sailed the boat since I was a child and my father won several championships in this class. Therefor I really enjoy training the Knarr class contributing to the class future.

Returning to coach sailors after a long corona pandemic lockdown.
Last week I had the opportunity to make training for the Danish Contender Class Association. ⛵️🌊☀️🇩🇰

The Contender dinghy is a really fast single-handed dinghy with trapeze. The Contender mainsail and mast is trimmed very similar to the olympic 470 dinghy.

We had every day training in 18-24 knots of wind, so it was really challenging conditions. Nice opportunity to improve sailor’s skill set. We focused on dinghy depower trim, steering techniques and body movement in waves.

Next week I will be organizing a training camp for the Danish Knarr Association.
