If you're driving or using any kind of vehicle and there's an accident where someone gets hurt or a vehicle gets damaged, you must:

Stop immediately: No matter what, don't drive away from the scene.

Provide information: If someone asks, you need to give them your name, address, the vehicle's registration number, and the name of your insurance company. If there were other people with you in the vehicle, you also need to provide their names.

Report the accident to the police: You have to go to a police station and report the accident as soon as you can, but definitely within 24 hours of it happening.

However, if you report the accident right there to a police officer who's at the scene, you don't have to go to the police station separately.

If you don't follow these rules, you're breaking the law. The penalty for not following these rules or not reporting the accident is a fine of five hundred dollars and you might go to jail for up to one month if you're found guilty. So, it's really important to comply with these rules if you're involved in an accident on the road in Dominica.
