“We are more similar than we are different…” — and that truth landed powerfully at .

Dr. Clementine Affana reminded us that real collaboration doesn’t begin with pretending we’re the same — it begins with understanding, respecting, and communicating across our differences.

That’s how Caribbean and African brilliance connect.
That’s how partnerships become possible.
That’s how progress becomes shared.

This wasn’t just a quote. It was a mindset shift in the room.

“Africa + Caribbean = 1.5 billion people. You don’t need another market.”

Tony Edwards, Co-Founder of ShopDM, came to Progressism wondering how Africa-Caribbean trade could be made practical in a room like this.

He left with a completely new way of thinking.

From real conversations on logistics, culture, and connections, to tangible leads and business opportunities — Progressism didn’t just inspire him, it shifted his market mindset.

This is what happens when dialogue turns into possibility.

🔥 FIRESIDE PANEL SPOTLIGHT | Progressism 2026
From Conversation to Concrete Action

One of the most powerful moments of Progressism 2026 was our Fireside Panel on the Future of Africa–Caribbean Collaboration Moderated by Monelle Alexis - Communications & PR Specialist, Discover Dominica Authority and featuring three dynamic voices:

Alisha Ally – Pan-African strategist on South-South cooperation
Dr. Clementine Afana – Entrepreneur bridging Cameroon and Dominica
Kenneth Oguzi – Trade, investment, and diaspora advocate

This was not a romantic discussion about unity.
This was a practical examination of the real barriers to trade, mobility, banking, shipping, youth engagement — and what the private sector must do now to fix it.

The message from the panel was clear:
👉 Stop waiting. Start building.
👉 Plan the trade mission. Set the date. Create the deal room.
👉 Teach youth to see Africa and the Caribbean as one economic space.

💬 “Failure is just market research.” — Alisha Ally
💬 “We are more similar than we are different, but we must understand our differences to collaborate better.” — Dr. Clementine Afana
💬 “Trade missions must produce deals, not just photos.” — Kenneth Oguzi

This panel didn’t inspire us.
It challenged us.

“We’re not just CEOs or managers — we’re people with real journeys.”

Marva Williams experienced Progressism for the very first time as a PowerTalk panelist, and what stood out most was the freedom to be authentic, to share, to learn, and to connect beyond titles.

A unique space in Dominica where professionals can show up as themselves, reflect on the roads they’ve travelled, and feel genuinely positive about their next steps.

Thank you, Marva, for your voice and your presence.

See you at Progressism 2027.

“When Africa and the Caribbean collaborate, we are not building nostalgia. We are building leverage.”

This powerful reminder from Alisha Ally, Founder & CEO of A.H.A. Innovations and Progressism 2026 Panelist, captures exactly why cross-regional collaboration is no longer optional — it is strategic.

The next decade will belong to those bold enough to move first, to form unlikely partnerships, and to turn shared heritage into shared opportunity.

At Progressism, we don’t just talk about connection. We activate it.

Call to action:
If you believe in bridging Africa and the Caribbean through business, innovation, and intentional collaboration, join the conversation. Follow and be part of the movement shaping progress without borders.

This recent AfriCaribbean Private Sector Webinar Series titled “Unlocking AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment: Opportunities, Ecosystems and Private Sector Leadership” perfectly reinforces the conversations we advanced at Progressism 2026 — Bridging Caribbean and African Excellence: Progress Without Borders.

What’s powerful is the alignment. Across platforms and regions, the same message is emerging: the future of growth, innovation, and resilience lies in intentional AfriCaribbean collaboration — led by the private sector, strengthened by ecosystems, and driven by relationships.

As the Caribbean continues to be recognized as the 6th Region of Africa, now is the time for entrepreneurs, professionals, and institutions to move beyond dialogue and into strategic partnerships, trade, and investment.

We encourage everyone to take a closer look at the opportunities unfolding between both regions because when Africa and the Caribbean connect with purpose, progress accelerates.

Exports from the African Union to CARICOM nations could surpass the $1 billion threshold, according to a recent study presented by the CARICOM Private Sector Organization (CPSO). This development signals a significant opportunity to overhaul and strengthen supply chain networks...
