The Nile is always a surprise. Like the sunsets. I saw the best sunsets of my life in Aswan. Sometimes, you don't even have time to get your camera.. others you just stare....can't move your eyes from the colors in the sky. Yes...paradise is here but sometimes, could be hell too.

"Places are connected with people. Each one tell us a story and teach us a lesson. Elephantine Island is full of it. I wonder, while going around, the meaning of life. Can tourists, stop just for a second and wonder about how traditions stood still here? And how?".

"Sometimes we have to do the impossible to save our roots from disappearing. At the Nubia Museum, ground floor, right, you have an entired room showing what was done. From the rock art to real mummies, a notable collection of black and white photos of all the works done.
Yes.. sometimes progress stands in front of culture and heritage".

"Old Cairo... You feel like you are travelling back in time, while walking the souq El Khalifa, buit around 1600, a part of Muizz el Din Street, which goes from Bad El Fotouh to Bab Zuwayla. You will walk between shops that have more than 150 years old.
Look up, look down and you will enjoy the marvellous architecture of all the buildings... The few light breaking through the buildings or traditional balconies will catch your attention.
But when you reach Bab Zuwayla, take sometime and visit it from the inside.
It is the last remaining southern medieval gates, constructed between 1087-1092 and at 1420, its minarets were added.
During the process of its restauration, some human teeth among other things, were find in the cracks, lefted there deliberated by the travelers for good luck. Enjoy it with no rush".

"After the fieldwork, Archaeologists have still so much to do. Organise all the finds like pottery, glass, small finds, inscriptions and so on.
You need to do an inventory, its description, drawing, photographs, analise and compare the different kinds of clays used to make the pots, jars, vessels... and compared its forms, shaps, decoration to others with the help of a very good pottery typology book for classification.
Conservation and preservation is also something that you should take care of.
There is no indiana Jones or Lara Croft in all this... Just hard work, dedication and pleasure."

"There is so much still to discover around Aswan... Specialy, when we think about pure nature and cultural heritage.
Not much people have the opportunity to vist a Nubian village and enjoy it for a all day.. And there are many reasons for you to do it. The choices are diverse. I take this chance to show you one of my favourites... Garb Sohail.
Between the sand mountains and the river Nile, this village Is completely full of life...The Beautiful colours of the houses mixed with the smell of spices and the traditional hand cooked food, your senses will be at their peak.
Henna, music and a tasty gabana coffe made by traditional way in almost every corner.
It is indeed a challenge to walk along the village between all shops and to choose what to take.
Here is my advise... Enjoy... Feel the adventure, see the most you can and try all the diferent tastes of food...jump into the Nile and don't be afraid of the crocodiles...There is none in this waters... only at Lake Nasser. But you can see some crocos inside the traditional Nubian houses, dead or alive."
