We are proud to have our CEO, Aya Emam, represent Business Hubs at Solar & Storage Live Egypt, joining the panel discussion:
“Energy Access and Empowerment: How Solar-Driven Rural Electrification is Transforming Communities.”
The session brought together leading experts across energy, sustainability, and climate finance, including Ayman Haiba, Dr. Nilly Kamal Elamir, and Dr. Noha Shaker, and was moderated by Ahmed Badr from the International Renewable Energy Agency – IRENA.
During the discussion, Aya highlighted a principle that sits at the heart of the Business Hubs vision: access to energy should go beyond powering communities — it should create businesses, livelihoods, jobs, and sustainable local economies.
Solar energy can become a powerful economic enabler for rural communities, supporting productive activities such as irrigation, cooling, drying, agro-processing, and small-scale enterprises, while reducing production costs and increasing the value created locally.
At Business Hubs, we believe that access to infrastructure alone is not enough.
Our role is to help transform these opportunities into viable and scalable businesses by identifying local economic potential, building entrepreneurs’ capacities, developing sustainable business models, and connecting entrepreneurs to finance, markets, investors, and value chains.
The discussion also highlighted the need to rethink how impact is measured. Beyond the number of solar systems installed or energy generated, success should be reflected in higher household incomes, new jobs, stronger local enterprises, women and youth participation, reduced production costs, and long-term business sustainability.
This is the ecosystem approach we are building at Business Hubs: connecting entrepreneurship, investment, market access, and sustainable development to turn local opportunities into scalable economic impact.
