Company Overview
Dayra came into being to fulfil a dream for a cleaner Egypt and respectable Egyptian recycled products.
Dayra is an initiative aiming at converting wastes, previously perceived as Egypt's biggest problems, into valuable resources serving as raw materials for numerous productions.
In spite of some sporadic attempts to solve some of the waste problems in Egypt such as collection and management, waste still fills the streets of Egypt and after the January 25th revolution; the problem only seemed to intensify day after day. In this context, Dayra was created in an attempt to curb the harmful effects of waste problems, with a preliminary focus on streamlining wastepaper collection and adding to their value through compression and reselling them to paper factories and collecting and processing water hyacinth in an attempt to counteract its devastating consequences that affect farmers, fisherman and its high intake of Nile water.
Dayra will start its operations by compiling and processing various waste-papers into inputs to paper factories and collecting water hyacinth from lakes and canals to manufacture silage [animal feed] to deliver to farmers and extract the rubber to be delivered to ElNour welAmal NGO to manufacture different forms of handicrafts.
In the future, Dayra aspires to widen its scope of operations will diversify incorporating other wastes materials as well becoming an integrated waste material company.
Dayra is a new entrepreneurial venture that received support from Nahdet ElMahrousa in the form of consulting and training on various business aspects. The project is currently managed by five partners with expertise and knowledge cross-cutting several industries including, but not exclusive to, engineering and business management. The diversity in the knowledge and expertise of the partners involved enriches the project and forms a diverse yet integrated model.
