European Institute of Yacht Design The professional organisation in Europe promoting the discipline and strategic value of yacht design Imprint: http://www.eiyd.org/d84453/

Based in Germany, the European Institute of Yacht Design is the professional organisation in Europe promoting the discipline and strategic value of yacht design. We offer a unique platform which brings together business, education, culture and media; in order to share knowledge and experience, create profitable interdisciplinary collaborations and foster networking. The European Institute of Yacht

Design provides support and information in all aspects of the discipline, and promotes yacht design as a key success factor for the maritime industry and its related fields. We constantly champion design excellence, innovation and the exploration of new fields through our projects, competitions, events, campaigns, publications, information services and strategic consultancy. The European Institute of Yacht Design identifies and accelerates young talent in yacht design and aims to attract outstanding professionals from related fields in order to shape and establish the profession of yacht design, as well as to communicate and represent its interests; bridging the gap between academia, business and clients. We strive to raise the standards by promoting quality, responsibility and sustainability; making the European yacht design a worldwide benchmark for excellence, favouring internationalisation and attracting key players and investment.

“I am extremely excited to have been chosen as the ‘One4Azzam’, and I’m eager to have the opportunity to demonstrate what a paralympian sailor can do with a pro-team,” Keith Burhans
Congratulations and all the best for the Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing Team!

HUGE congratulations to Kieth Burhans, Sydney 2000 Paralympian (Sonar) and past US Sailing Team Sperry Top-Sider athlete who has been selected to join Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing for an upcoming offshore competition! They could not be getting a better teammate.

"Burhans, who managed to save the lives of his two daughters, Kristen and Allison, in the same accident that cost him his legs, also coached the Greeks in the Athens 2004 Games and is currently Past Commodore of Rochester Yacht Club in New York. Now he will take his very special set of sea legs aboard Azzam alongside skipper Ian Walker and the rest of the ADOR crew for a day as they take on the Artemis Challenge – one of the highlights of the world-famous Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes regatta and a crucial part of the team’s development and training for the Volvo Ocean Race, which starts in October."
