I doubled my investment this year.

Cool. 💁‍♀️

But I’m still more impressed by the humans whose lives have changed because of this work.

And somehow… that’s not the result I’m “supposed” to market online. 🙃

Because let’s be honest: money grabs attention.

And yes, businesses need money.

But if you’re building a business with an allergic aversion to sales, chances are you don’t actually have a strategy problem…

You’ve got an ick problem. 🤢

Because I’ve done both.

And yet…

The first one gives me the ick.

I rarely lead with money, even though I see it everywhereeeee online.

And don’t get me wrong…

It works.

It grabs my attention too.

I’ve bought the “how to make money online” programmes.

Heck, I’m in one now. 😂

But I didn’t buy because of the income claims.

I bought because I trust the person.

Because she’s a mama, just like me.

Because she has a mission, just like me.

Because I genuinely want to support her work.

Here’s what’s interesting though…

I consciously value mission over money.

Impact over income.

And yet I’m still conditioned to pay more attention to the money.

At the same time, as a business owner, I struggle to lead with it because of the ick.

And THAT is exactly what I want to unpack.

Because whether we like it or not, if we’re building businesses, we need to get on board with generating cash and selling the s**t out of what we do.

So where does the ick come from?

What stories are we carrying about money, sales, visibility, success, ambition, being “too much”, being “too pushy”?

Because I don’t think most of us have a strategy problem.

I think we’ve got some deeper stuff running the show.
