El Gobierno pide a la Unión Europea limitar la compra de viviendas en Canarias

El Gobierno central, mediante el Ministerio de Política Territorial, liderado por el canario Ángel Víctor Torres, ha emitido una propuesta a la Unión Europea con el objetivo de limitar la compra de viviendas en el archipiélago canario que no sean destinadas para vivir. Esta medida se enmarca en las propuestas emitidas por el Ejecutivo nacional sobre la nueva estratégica de las Regiones Ultraperiféricas (RUP). El Gobierno canario asegura que el 25% de las viviendas en el mercado son adquiridas por compradores extranjeros que no residen en el archipiélago, y cree que esta restricción reducirá la presión sobre el mercado inmobiliario canario y mejorará el acceso habitacional para jóvenes o hogares vulnerables.

The central government, through the Ministry of Territorial Policy led by Canary Islands native Ángel Víctor Torres, has submitted a proposal to the European Union with the aim of limiting the purchase of homes in the Canary archipelago that are not intended for residential use. This measure forms part of the proposals put forward by the national executive regarding the new strategy for the Outermost Regions (ORs).
The Canary Islands government states that 25% of the homes on the market are purchased by foreign buyers who do not reside in the archipelago, and believes that this restriction would reduce pressure on the Canary Islands housing market and improve access to housing for young people and vulnerable households.
