2. Background History of the Enterprise:
Road and Building Design and Construction Supervision Works Enterprise was established as a road and building design and supervision core work process in January 2009 under the Amhara Design and Supervision Works Enterprise.
As the scope of works were being extended from time to time beyond the capacity of the work process, the government of the Amhara Regional state has decided to stretch the capacity of the work process by establishing it at an enterprise level.
Hence it was established and organized as an enterprise which is called Road and Building Design and Construction Supervision Works Enterprise in August 2014 with a total staff number of 265. Among the staff members, 237 were first degree (BSC/BA) holders, 7 were second degree (MA/MSC) holders and the remaining were supportive staff members with different profession.
The enterprise has been organized with three core work processes integrated with other supporting work processes as shown in the organization structure.
Amhara National Regional State is one of the nine regional states of Ethiopia with a population of more than 20 million and an area of 157,000 square kilometers. Under this region, Road and Building Design & Construction Supervision Works Enterprise, RBDCSWE, was founded in August 2014 in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia. The Enterprise has been established as a consultant organization having legal personality under the Amhara National Regional State Regulation No. 123/2014.
The total sum of the initial capital authorized for the enterprise is ETH Birr 55,000,000.00. Of this sum, Birr 35,000,000.00 has been paid in cash whereas the remaining balance birr 20,000,000.00 was paid in kind.
The enterprise has engaged in a wide range of consultancy services by carrying out study, design and construction supervision works of the roads and buildings. In addition to road and building consultancy services, the enterprise has a plan to participate on rail way & airport designs and construction supervision works and it will invest portions of its assets in the purchase of stocks and bonds for development projects of the region.
