Truth is, there isn’t ONE best board.
But some are more foreign-nurse friendly, especially if you don’t have a Social Security Number yet 👇
⭐ Boards that DO NOT require SSN for licensure You can apply, take NCLEX and get licensed before moving to the US:
• New York – Most popular worldwide (uses CGFNS for verification)
• New Mexico – Faster processing & commonly used by agencies
⭐ Boards that allow NCLEX without SSN (license comes later)
• Texas – Employer-friendly & widely used
• Illinois – Clear process for foreign nurses
• Colorado – Can start the process without SSN
