Former Air Canada captain arrested for alleged licence fraud

Shocking news out of Toronto: A former Air Canada captain has been arrested after flying commercial passenger jets for nearly 17 years using a counterfeit licence! *•
Here is what happened:
• The Pilot: 59-year-old Geoffrey Wall of Barrie, Ontario.
• He flew as an Air Canada captain from 2009 to 2025 without a valid Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL).
Police say he used fake documents.
• He captained over 900 domestic and international flights on massive Boeing 767, 777, and 787 jets, earning $2.9 million CAD.
• How he got away with it: He did have a lower-level commercial licence and passed Air Canada's strict simulator and safety checks every six months. He had the flying skills, but not the legal credentials to be a captain.
• The Arrest: Caught during a routine audit, he was arrested on June 1, 2026, and faces multiple fraud and forgery charges.
Air Canada states passenger safety was never compromised, but a massive review Is underway to tighten verification loopholes.

Spirit Airlines is officially grounded.

After 34 years in the skies, All Spirit flights have been canceled.
Spirit Airlines launched operations in 1992, with its inaugural flight connecting Detroit and Atlantic City. The airline was serving nearly 90 destinations at its peak,across the United States, the Caribbean, Central America and South America, operating a fleet of more than 90 Airbus aircraft (A320s & A321s)

,✨️ The announcement comes after the airline failed to secure a $500 million government bailout.
✨️,Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, American Airlines, Frontier Airlines,and Southwest Airlines have announced special fares to support Spirit Airlines Customers and employees.

Customer service has shut down.

Thousands of travelers were left stunned at airports, some only learning their flights no longer existed after arriving at the terminal.

The 175 passengers boarding Southwest Airlines Flight 3658 from Denver to St. Louis had no idea they were about to witness aviation history.

Before takeoff, Captain Holly Petitt picked up the intercom. "I would like to introduce your first officer, a brand new member of the Southwest team of pilots," she announced, according to Good Morning America. "My daughter, Keely Petitt."
The cabin broke into applause. For the first time in Southwest's history, a mother and daughter were flying together in the cockpit of a Boeing 737.

Holly is a veteran Southwest captain with more than two decades at the airline. She started her career as a flight attendant before an "aha moment" on a cockpit ferry flight pushed her into flight lessons. Her daughter Keely caught the bug at 14, on a Christmas "discovery flight" Holly bought for her three kids. "I was like, 'I don't care what it takes. This is what I want to do for the rest of my life,'" Keely told ABC News.

Keely earned her pilot's license, flew for regional carrier Horizon Air, and was eventually hired by Southwest as a First Officer. Not long after, she was sitting in the right seat of Flight 3658, looking over at her own mother.

The two took turns flying that day, with Holly handling the leg into St. Louis and Keely taking the controls on the next segment.

"I just keep using the word 'surreal,'" Holly said. "You have this little baby, you're holding her in your arms, and in a blink of an eye, there she is sitting on the flight deck next to you."
